It was a rout for the Scotland women in Sharjah as England defeated them by 10 wickets, chasing down the target of 110 runs in just 10 overs almost confirming a berth in the semifinals of the Women's T20 World Cup on Sunday. (Match Highlights | More Cricket News)

Batting first turned out to be a poor decision for Scotland, who concluded their first-ever ICC T20 World Cup campaign without a win.

England's bowlers restricted the Scots to 109/6, and then the openers took charge. Maia Bouchier hammered 62 runs off 34 balls, hitting 12 boundaries, while Danielle Wyatt-Hodge scored a quickfire 51 off 26 balls, including seven fours.

The Scottish openers, Sarah Bryce (27 off 31 balls) and Kathryn Bryce (33 off 28 balls), provided some useful contributions, but it wasn’t enough. The English bowlers executed their strategy nicely, with Sophie Ecclestone standing out as the most successful bowler, taking 2 wickets for just 13 runs in 4 overs.

With this win, England, sit atop Group B with 3 wins from 3 matches and a net run rate of +1.716. They have moved up from third place before the match, surpassing South Africa and edging ahead of the West Indies with their performance in 9.3 overs or fewer.

Brief scores:

Scotland: 109/6 in 20 overs (Kathryn Bryce 33; Sophie Ecclestone 2/13)

England: 113/0 in 10 overs (Maia Bouchier not out 62, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge not out 51).
