Kanpur’s weather could pose challenges for the Day 1 match, with cloudy skies, 27°C, 88% humidity, and light winds at 10 km/h. There's a 46% chance of showers after 11:00 AM.
There was overnight rain, and it's still overcast. The covers were removed briefly, but we'll have to wait and see how the day unfolds.
At the Green Park Stadium, the black soil pitch often plays into the hands of spinners as it does not bounce much. Chennai, on the other hand, uses a red-soil strip. If necessary, a separate red-soil pitch has been prepared and management will decide in the light of the chances of rain.
Generally, the low-clay pitch tends to hold up well even in cases of light rain, giving batters every chance to score. The first two sessions are likely going to favor the fast bowlers and provide a good bounce and movement with the ball.
However, by day three of the match, the spinners will probably dominate as the pitch begins to break down. This allows the black soil from Kali Mitti village to work better with the spin action of the red-ball match in the later stages.
The pitch covers are being removed, and the toss will happen soon. However, it's delayed due to a wet outfield, with an inspection scheduled for 9:30 AM.
Officials are currently on the field for inspection, and the decision is still pending.
It remains to be seen whether India deploy Kuldeep Yadav for the 2nd Test whereas Bangladesh could look to refresh their team after 1st Test defeat. Get the Live Streaming information here.

Rohit states that the pitch is slightly soft and wants to give his three seamers a chance to exploit the conditions. He emphasizes the importance of winning games and finding ways to succeed in Tests. India remain unchanged for this match.

The champion calls time on an unparalleled career. West Indies' decorated all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after an injury cut short his farewell Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. Bravo, who will turn 41 next month, is the leading wicket-taker in T20 history.
Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan head to the middle to open for the visitors, with Jasprit Bumrah ready to bowl with the shiny new ball in hand.
BAN 4/0 (1)
Bumrah starts with a full delivery well outside off, resulting in very low bounce as the ball travels to the keeper. He pulls back slightly and beats Zakir’s outside edge. Bumrah strikes again, starting outside leg, with the ball swinging past the outside edge once more.
A bit off line while trying to swing one in, he concedes four byes as the ball beats Pant on its way to the boundary.
BAN 8/0 (2)
Just out of Jaiswal's reach at gully, a short ball in the channel from Siraj to Shadman earns four runs.
BAN 12/0 (3.5)
The last time India opted to field first in a home Test was in Bengaluru (vs South Africa) in 2015 - the only such instance under Virat Kohli's captaincy run. Only the second instance of a team opting to field first in 24 Tests in Kanpur, the first coming way back in 1964 (vs England).
Bumrah delivers a full ball on the stumps to Shadman, who guides it past square leg for a boundary. A full delivery outside off beats Shadman’s attempted defensive block, resulting in another four! There’s no control, but the ball finds its way past gully to the fence.
R Ashwin into the attack.
BAN 26/0 (8)
Akash Deep comes into the attack and beats Zakir's outside edge on the first ball and WICKET. Zakir falls for a duck off 24 balls. A full delivery outside off takes Zakir's edge, and Jaiswal dives to his right to take a superb catch.
BAN 26/1 (8.5)
Ashwin continues with a full delivery on leg stump, and Shadman guides it behind for a couple to short fine leg. Some extra bounce as Ashwin gets one to beat Shadman's attempted leg-side flick -- he played down the wrong line there. Akash Deep will take over in the 11th over.
BAN 28/1 (10.3)
Akash Deep launches a huge appeal after rapping Shadman on the pads, prompting Rohit to go for a review. Initially, it looked like it might be sliding down leg, but THREE REDS confirm the dismissal. Shadman has to walk back.
Skipper Shanto In
BAN 29/2 (12.2)
A full delivery around off, and Shanto steps forward to drive it through the vacant mid-off region for four -- his second boundary of the innings.
BAN 42/2 (13.3)
Akash switches up the angle and bowls a short one, which Mominul guides over the slips for a boundary. And with this shot, Tigers reach 50.
BAN 51/2 (17)
Bumrah returns to the attack, delivering on leg stump as Shanto moves to the leg side and scampers for a leg bye. Bumrah makes a slightly late but intense appeal after Mominul is struck on the pads, leading to a review.
The decision comes down to umpire’s call on hitting, and Mominul survives! That's the second review India have wasted.
BAN 61/2 (20.4)
Ashwin returns for another over. Mominul has a short leg in place and defends the ball straight to him. He follows up with a sweep to deep fine leg for a single. Shanto faces two slips, or more of a gully, and Four!! Shanto executes a reverse sweep, sending it through point for a boundary.
BAN 66/2 (22.4)
Then it is lunchtime and the rain starts to fall -- at first, lightly, but just in time for the covers to come on as the players leave the field.
Unfortunately, this rain builds into a downpour and the groundstaff quickly cover the pitch with more of the outfield coming under protection.
Hopefully, this won't have an effect on the resumption of play.
What an innings! Bangladesh would demand the upper hand having lost only two wickets against India's exemplary bowling.
Bumrah and Siraj swung the new ball very well and Akash Deep kept his discipline better, resulting in two wickets till his 13th ball. Shanto continued from Chennai Test and even Mominul remained anchored despite some discomfort.
According to The Indian Express, Bangles super fan Roby was brutally assaulted by a group of 10-15 Indian fans in the stands.
Play resumes after a 15-minute stop. Ashwin is brought in immediately. Mominul tries to sweep but does not connect it well, and the ball heads towards long stop. Rohit runs for it and blocks the batters from making more than a single.
BAN 77/2 (27)
Ravichandran Ashwin continued bowling from one side after the lunch break and found the Bangla captain in front of the wickets. Shanto took a review and wasted that. With this wicket, Ashwin (420) has overtaken Anil Kumble (419) as most Test wickets in Asia. He is just behind Muttiah Muralitharan (612).
