Tim Southee has the last laugh as the veteran bowler uproots Rohit Sharma's stumps and finally the Kiwis have their reward in Bengaluru. Sharma goes for a hoik but misses completely as Southee's in-swinger disrupts the stumps. Kiwis overjoyed as IND lose their first wicket.
IND - 9/1 (7 Overs)
Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is 7 runs off 29 deliveries - that's the slowest innings the southpaw has played so far on Indian soil. Ravi Shastri and Dinesh Karthik on-air suggest that they were 'surprised' India chose to bat instead of bowl on these damp conditions.
IND - 9/1 (8 Overs)
Virat Kohli has been dismissed for a 0 on his 'home' turf as William ORourke sent back the star batter with a ball that jagged in, hit the bat and the thigh pad and claimed by Glenn Phillips in the gully region. Two of the most set batters for India dismissed and the Kiwis are on a roll here in Bengaluru.
IND 9/2 (9 Overs)
India are under the cosh here in Bengaluru as Sarfaraz Khan walks back to the pavillion. The Mumbai batter hits in the air but the ball goes into the hands of Devon Conway, who brilliantly takes a one-handed blinder to send the Kiwis into delirium. What a start for the BlackCaps in Bengaluru.
IND - 12/3 (10 Overs)
Drinks on the field as India will be the most hurt by the opening session in Bengaluru. Opting to bat first, NZ bowlers made merry of the overcast conditions as they plucked three Indian wickets to send the hosts scratching their heads.
IND - 13/3 (12 Overs)
Rain stops play in Bengaluru as India will be the relived party after losing three wickets in the morning session against New Zealand in Bengaluru. Opting to bat first, Rohit Sharma was the first to be dismissed followed by Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan for ducks. Yashasvi Jaiswal has played a slow innings, as India were outdone by Kiwis.
IND - 13/3 (12.4 Overs)
Updated Session timings:
11:05 to 12:00 - 1st session
12:40 to 14:55 - 2nd session
15:15 to 17:15 - 3rd session
Harsha Bhogle, who is commentating at the game, tweets that KL Rahul has played the new ball more than anyone else and has been sent down the order in this match. A 'strange call' from the Indian management perhaps?
Sanjay Manjrekar, the former Indian batter, gives his take on the Virat Kohli dismissal by saying the star batter could have 'gone on the front foot'.
India's Rishabh Pant was handed a lifeline by NZ keeper Tom Blundell in the 15th over. India are all at sea in Bengaluru and despite a brilliant morning from the Kiwis, this could hurt them. Will Pant capitalise and score something big here?
IND - 23/3 (15 Overs)
Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been watchful as the two batters have left the odd ball outside the off-stump. India will be looking to settle down and get scoring once the ball gets old. Murali Karthik on-air suggests that Ajaz Patel can have a crack here. Interesting that will be.
IND - 27/3 (18 Overs)
Indian batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant have avoided the 'big-hitting' in Bengaluru, knowing the conditions aren't helpful for big strokeplay. Pant, especially, has been watchful and blocked each and every ball.
IND - 30/3 (20 Overs)
India lost their fourth as Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) was dismissed by the brilliant William ORourke as Kiwis struck post the break session in Bengaluru. Another wicket pre-lunch and India will find themselves in a spot of bother. KL Rahul has joined Pant at the crease as they look to build up another partnership.
IND - 31/4 (21 Overs)
When It Rains, It Pours - and India is seeing that on a damp Bengaluru track as their fifth wicket went down. KL Rahul, who has been flat with the bat, was dismissed by William ORourke as India went five down in Bengaluru. New Zealand smell blood here and another couple and the hosts might be in danger of getting bowled out.
IND - 33/5 (23 Overs)
Lunch in Bengaluru but the food might not taste sweet for the Indian team as it would for the Kiwis. India are 34/6 in Bengaluru and this could get messy for the hosts. Opting to bat first on a damp track, Rohit Sharma's decision backfired as they lost wickets at regular intervals. The BlackCaps were all over the Indian batters and despite some resistance shown by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant, the visitors made in-roads to leave India at 34/6 at lunch.
IND - 34/6 (23.5 Overs)
India seemed to have wiped out the Adelaide memory but it seems Bengaluru has rocked up another one. Indian batting has had a shocking day with NZ bowlers taking wickets left, right and center. India are eight down and face the ignominy of being bowled out under 100 runs.
IND - 40/8 (26 Overs)
The Test match brings back memory of Seddon Park involving these two teams. India were bowled out for 99 and in reply the Kiwis were bundled out for 94. Will we see similar instance today?
IND - 46/9 (29 Overs)
Adelaide and now Bengaluru - India have been bowled out for 46 in their first innings despite winning the toss and opting to bat. Matt Henry took five wickets (5/15) and was well supported by William O'Rourke (4/22) as the hosts had no answer to the pace batteries. The fans in the stadium are shocked beyond belief seeing their team being bowled out for this paltry score.

R Ashwin makes his way and gives only three runs in his 1st over of the innings. NZ trail by 16 runs as the camera pans to the Indian dressing room with the Indian coach Gautam Gambhir looking 'gambhir' as ever. Welcome to the coaching world!
NZ - 30/0 (8 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
Devon Conway danced down the track and hoiked a six off Ravi Ashwin as the visitors trailed India's score by mere 10 runs. Drinks being taken as India are in hunt for wickets but Kiwi batters are not looking unsettled as their counterparts were in the morning session.
NZ - 36/0 (10 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
We will have the first half-century in the Test match and none so deservedly so for NZ's Devon Conway. The southpaw has looked at ease and has attacked Ravichandran Ashwin, as the visitors took the lead in this Test match.
NZ - 53/0 (15 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
Tom Latham was dismissed for 15 but that was the only blemish for the Kiwis as Devon Conway bludgeoned his way to another half-century as the visitors put themselves in a commanding position. The BlackCaps lead by 36 runs.
NZ - 82/1 (20 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
Post-tea and India will be looking for wickets despite New Zealand's commanding position in Bengaluru. There's no turn or swing on-offer for the bowlers and one makes to think that what made Gambhir and Rohit to bat first on this track.
NZ - 88/1 (23 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
New Zealand's lead has crossed fifty runs and Devon Conway is playing beautifully alongside Will Young. The duo are looking formidable at the crease with no signs of any nuisance off the pitch. All can India hope for now is either rain or some luck (from anywhere).
NZ - 99/1 (27 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
There's no real self-belief out there in the field for India as the bowlers look out of sorts and out of ideas. Kiwis could have not dreamt of a better day as they lead by 64 runs and still have nine wickets left. Kane Williamson who?
NZ - 110/1 (30 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
The picture perfectly encapsulates the current mood of the Indian cricket team and the fans.
DRS calls being overturned, catches going astray, poor bowling and earlier in the day, appalling batting - just some of the pointers to highlight for GG and his think-tank tonight. IND have been overcooked here by the Kiwis and need some luck if they are to go the distance.
NZ - 125/1 (33 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
India finally celebrated a wicket as Will Young (33) as the ball hit the top-edge of his bat and went straight into Kuldeep Yadav's hands. 'Jaddu' weaves his magic and India breath a sigh of relief.
NZ - 143/2 (37 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
Out in the nineties for the third time, Devon Conway will be kicking himself as he reversed sweeped R Ashwin, but the ball zipped through him and disturbed his stumps. Umpires checked whether there was any contact from Dhruv Jurel's gloves but none upon review and Conway walks back.
NZ - 158/3 (40 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
The hosts have fought back in the Test with three wickets in Bengaluru. Devon Conway (91) was out in the nineties and if Rohit Sharma-led side sneak in with some more, we could have a match here folks.
NZ - 168/3 (45 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra are frustrating the Indian bowlers especially Rohit Sharma with some 'oohs' and 'aahs' when the ball pops up in the air. Despite some mischief by the ball off the pitch, the Kiwis are looking on their way to a big score.
NZ - 177/3 (48 Overs)
IND - 46 All Out (31.2 Overs)
Was a great way to start the day. The way we’ve continued as well has been really pleasing. We were hopeful. There was a lot of grass taken off, we tried to apply pressure for as long as we could. The key is just worrying about what you can control. For me it was about working on my game and taking the opportunities that I got. Everytime you come back here (India) it’s a great place to play. All those experiences help. Was great to get out there today. The game being affected by rain, it’s important to have a day like this. It’s usually really difficult here and it’s about carrying on in the same way.
