The IPL Mega Auction is finally underway! Last year, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc shattered records, becoming the most expensive player in IPL history. He was scooped up by Shah Rukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders for a staggering ₹25 crore (₹24.75 crore, to be precise).
This year, all eyes are on former Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant. The buzz around the auction floor suggests he could break the elusive ₹30 crore barrier. Will Pant set a new benchmark in IPL history? Stay tuned to find out!
There are a total of 12 marquee players divided into two sets of six each.
Marquee Set 1: Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh and Mitchell Starc.
Marquee Set 2: includes Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.
All marquee players have a base price of INR 2 crore with the exception of David Miller who has a base price of INR 1.5 crore.

The auction will begin with the Marquee Lots, followed by lunch. Next up are the Capped Batters, All-Rounders, and Wicketkeepers. After a 15-minute break, the Capped Bowlers will go under the hammer, followed by another short 10-minute break. Day 1 will conclude with the first Uncapped Players set, featuring seven players. Big names will include Faf du Plessis, Kane Williamson, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, etc

"Right-to-Match" (RTM) option is back in focus at the IPL 2025 auction -- a strategic mechanism that allows teams to retain key players in a unique way.
