Lahore Qalandars have won the toss and have opted to bat.
Saud Shakeel: It was a bit of a technical challenge. We were thinking about how the match was progressing and at what stage Shamyl would come back in. Yes, absolutely, that is the case. When we end up being 10-15 runs short, the opposition plays the spinners very safely. I can see that all teams are playing in a very safe and easy manner against spin, which is why their impact is not spreading much. Yes, there are three changes today as well. Tom Curran was a little unwell, but he is still with the squad today and has also arrived in Karachi. Overall the bench strength looks good.
Shaheen Afridi: Once again, there have been a lot of changes because there were some injuries and some players left for international matches. Because of that, the combination got disturbed a little. But we are coming back after five days, and hopefully we will perform well. No, I think it is absolutely fine. The kind of thinking we need is there, but batting has been a bit of a problem so far. (Whats the score you are looking at on this surface?) 170 to 180 is the bottom line.
Lahore Qalandars (Playing XI): Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Naeem, Abdullah Shafique, Charith Asalanka, Sikandar Raza, Haseebullah Khan(w), Mohammad Farooq, Daniel Sams, Shaheen Afridi(c), Usama Mir, Haris Rauf
Quetta Gladiators (Playing XI): Shamyl Hussain, Saud Shakeel(c), Rilee Rossouw, Hasan Nawaz, Dinesh Chandimal(w), Bevon Jacobs, Jahandad Khan, Saqib Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Abrar Ahmed, Usman Tariq
And we’re underway in Karachi, the energy already crackling around the ground.
Fakhar Zaman stands tall at the crease, Mohammad Naeem alongside him, both ready to set the tone early. Saqib Khan has the new ball, beginning the proceedings with purpose.
First ball coming up, Fakhar on strike, field set, and here we go.
Massive moment in Karachi as Alzarri Joseph delivers a big breakthrough! Fakhar Zaman was looking dangerous, but Joseph keeps it full and straight with just a hint of movement, Fakhar swings, misses, and the ball crashes into the leg stump. Timber! A quickfire 20 off 11 comes to an abrupt end, and Quetta Gladiators have their early wicket.
Another one goes as Alzarri Joseph keeps the pressure right on! Charith Asalanka, who had just been given a lifeline earlier, can’t make it count this time.
He goes for the pull, but the ball climbs a touch on him, takes the top edge, and lobs gently towards short fine leg. Usman Tariq settles under it and makes no mistake, simple catch, big wicket. Asalanka’s brief stay ends on 6 off 6, and Quetta Gladiators are firmly on top now.
It’s unraveling quickly for Lahore Qalandars now! Saqib Khan joins the party and Mohammad Farooq has no answers. A length ball that stays a touch low, Farooq tries to play across the line, never a great idea, and misses it completely.
Thud on the front pad, right in front, and the finger goes up almost instantly. A brief chat about the review, but they decide against it… and replays later confirm it was crashing into middle and off. Farooq trudges back for 2 off 8, and Lahore are in deep trouble.
Saqib Khan goes for the yorker but gets it all wrong, and Haseebullah Khan makes him pay instantly! It ends up as a juicy slot on the pads, and Haseebullah just whips it away through deep mid-wicket with ease.
The timing is clean, the placement even better, four runs added in a flash. You can see the frustration building in Saqib’s captain as that free-hit turns into a gift wrapped and delivered.
Alzarri Joseph goes full and Sikandar Raza just helps it on its way. A gentle deflection down to fine leg and there’s no stopping that, easy runs added as the ball races away to the fence.
Abrar Ahmed is greeted with aggression as Haseebullah Khan finally breaks free! A bit too short, a bit too wide, and Haseebullah pounces, rocking onto the back foot and carving it cleanly past sweeper cover.
That’s the first boundary off the spinners, and it comes off the middle of the bat. The fielder gives chase but it’s already racing away to the fence.
Usman Tariq drifts into a bit of trouble here as Daniel Sams gets into the act! Another short and wide one outside off and Sams doesn’t need a second invitation, throws his hands at it, gets it off the outer half, but places it smartly past backward point.
Back-to-back boundaries now, and suddenly the pressure eases off for Lahore Qalandars. Tariq’s spell takes a slight hit as the momentum shifts briefly.
Alzarri Joseph digs it in short on middle, and Usama Mir doesn’t hesitate, rocks back, stands tall, and absolutely launches it over mid-wicket! Clean strike right off the middle, sailing all the way for a huge six. That’s the first maximum of the day, and it lands with a statement.
Lahore Qalandars were restricted to 134 all out in 19.5 overs on a slow, two-paced Karachi surface after being strangled by a sharp Quetta Gladiators bowling effort. The spinners dictated terms through the middle overs, with Usman Tariq starring with 3/18 while Abrar Ahmed kept things tight, conceding just 14 in his four overs.
Alzarri Joseph struck early with pace and bounce, finishing with 2/41, but Lahore never fully recovered after losing key wickets in clusters. A late lift came from Usama Mir, who smashed a quick 22 off 7 balls with three towering sixes, with Daniel Sams also chipping in to drag them past 130, setting up what should be a tricky chase for the Gladiators.
Karachi is ready for the chase, and the tension is already building.
Shamyl Hussain and Saud Shakeel walk out with purpose, eyes fixed on 135. Shamyl takes strike, looking to get Quetta Gladiators moving early in what promises to be a tricky surface. At the other end, Shaheen Afridi has the new ball in hand, charging in to open the attack for Lahore Qalandars.
Big first over loading, Shaheen steaming in, Shamyl set, and the chase begins!
Daniel Sams goes back to the same length, but Hasan Nawaz is ready this time too! Short, wide, and a touch slower again, no mistake on the execution from Nawaz as he waits, leans into it, and creams it through the covers. Two in the over now in the same region, and Sams is suddenly under pressure.
Haris Rauf serves up a short and wide one, and Rilee Rossouw goes hard, flat-batting it wide of mid-off. The fielder puts in the dive and looks to have it covered, but it slips through the hands and trickles away to the fence. A chance gone begging, and four runs added to the total.
Rilee Rossouw and Hasan Nawaz are batting nicely and have stitched 77 runs for the third wicket. Gladiators need a wicket badly and have turned to their skipper Shaheen Afridi to deliver a breakthrough.
QTG approaching victory but the cost of two quick wickets in the process. Dinesh Chandimal and Hasan Nawaz have walked back to the pavilion but the Gladiators require mere 13 runs for win.
Quetta Gladiators defeated Lahore Qalandars by six wickets in Karachi, chasing 135 with 138/4 in 16.2 overs. Usman Tariq starred with 3/18 as Lahore were restricted to 134 despite a late push from Usama Mir.
Rilee Rossouw (60*) and Hassan Nawaz (49) then took control of the chase after early strikes from Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, sealing a comfortable win that lifts Quetta up the table while Lahore slump to a third straight defeat.
That’s a wrap from Karachi! Quetta Gladiators seal a dominant win, and the points table keeps shifting in this intense PSL 2026 race. We’ll be back soon with another live blog, until then, goodbye!
