LSG 3-0 DC
The last time the two teams faced each other, LSG defeated DC by 50 runs.
"The ball will come on to the bat nicely and if you are a good player, you can make use of the pace and bang the ball around. We can see lot more runs despite the big boundaries," says Sunil Gavaskar.
Khaleel Ahmed got some purchase from the Ekana surface even though he conceded 10 runs in the opening over. However, he kept troubling Quniton de Kock with his swing and both the boundaries came via edges.
LSG- 10/0 (1)
Despite double blow from Khaleel Ahmed, LSG managed to get 57/2 at the end of the powerplay. KL Rahul led the charge with the skipper batting on a 14-ball 30 even as his opening partner Quinton de Kock and number 3 Devdutt Padikkal were both scalped by Ahmed.
LSG - 57/2 (6)
Kuldeep Yadav struck thrice in his first two overs to leave LSG in a spot of bother as the hosts lost five of their wickets at the halfway mark. The left-arm wrist spinner got rid of Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran on consecutive deliveries in his first over and then returned to get a well set KL Rahul caught behind.
LSG - 80/5 (10)
Runs dried up as wickets continued to go down for LSG with Impact Substitution Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya latest to return to pavillion.
Hooda skied a short ball from Ishant Sharma while Krunal edged one back to the keeper off Mukesh Kumar. Ayush Badoni remains Lucknow's only hope on the crease now.
LSG - 114/7 (15)
Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan stitched an unbeaten 73-run partnership to take a wobbling LSG to 167/7 in their 20 overs. The hosts were stuggling at 97/7 at one point before the duo combined to take them to a respectable total. Badoni ended with an unbeaten 35-ball 55.
LSG - 167/7 (20)
Delhi Capitals need 168 runs to win
Despite losing David Warner, DC looked in control with Prithvi Shaw (32*) and debutant Jake Fraser McGurk (16*) going all guns blazing in the powerplay. Krunal Pandya ended the powerplay with a 16-run over to put DC on front-foot after David Warner lost his wicket early.
DC - 62/1 (6) - need 106 runs in 84 balls
After a 62-run powerplay, runs seemed to dry down for DC as they could get to only 75/2 after 10 overs. Prithvi Shaw (32) was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi while Fraser-McGurk's slogs did not connect with the ball.
DC - 75/2 - need 93 runs in 60 balls
A hat-trick of sixes for the IPL debutant against Krunal Pandya in the 13th over.
LSG got the wickets of Fraser-McGurk (55 off 35) and Pant (41 off 24) in back-to-back overs but not before the duo had taken the game away from the hosts.
DC - 150/4 (16) - need 18 runs in 24 balls
Tristan Stubbs hit the winning six for the Capitals to take them to their second win of the season. Defending 168, LSG bowlers did well before Jake Fraser McGurk and Rishabh Pant took the game away from the hosts who were handed their second loss of the season.
I think we were 15-20 runs short, we got off to a good start, we could have capitalised and got 180. There was a bit of help for the seamers, the odd ball kept low. Kuldeep made its use (and got those wickets.) The new guys when they come in, it's pretty unknown for us. He (Jake Fraser-McGurk) hit the ball well, credit to him. We always walk in with the same mindset, want to hit the right areas.
Little relief, we wanted a win badly. I was talking to the boys saying we need to think like champions, we need to keep fighting hard. (On bowling) We have phases where we are not up to the mark, some individuals have to take responsibility for that. However, we stick together as a group. Some things you can control, some things we can't. (On team combination) I think we are getting closer to the right XI, but we've had so many injuries in this group. However, you can't keep complaining about that. (On Fraser-McGurk) Hopefully, we've found our new number 3, haven't thought too much about it. Hope he can continue.
Was tough when I wasn't fit. Got injured first game and was difficult to see the team struggling in the middle overs. Credit goes to Patrick (Farhart) to maintain my fitness and get me ready quickly. All three were important wickets, it was crucial to get wickets in the middle overs to control the run rate. I liked the first and second wicket, I have played a lot against Pooran and the execution for that was right. I was clear with my plans, just the length matters for me as a spinner. Very clear and confident with my skills.
DC registered their second win of the season while also ending the 13-match streak of LSG defending 160+ totals successfully. We will be taking your leave now. That's all from our side. Goodnight!
