What Captains Said At Toss

Scott Edwards: "We will bowl first. The wicket looked good, hopefully we can restrict them to a total we can chase. We'll have to think about it in the second innings (on the equations), but firstly it's important to win. We have played a lot of good cricket, just off for a few moments, need to play the perfect game. Same team."

Wanindu Hasaranga: "We would have bowled first. We are playing the same team that we'd have played against Bangladesh. We haven't done our job well in the first three games, we want to finish on a high."

Nissanka Gone In First Over

Vivian Kingma gets rid of Pathum Nissanka off the second ball of the match, and Netherlands draw first blood in the very first over.

Kusal, Kamindu Rebuild

Kusal and Kamindu Mendis are at the crease and going steady in the powerplay after Nissanka's dismissal. The Lankans have scored 32 runs in five overs for the loss of the solitary wicket.

De Silva Joins Kusal In Middle

Paul van Meekeren dismisses Kamindu Mendis, and that brings Dhananjay de Silva at the crease. He is holding fort alongside Kusal Mendis, and Sri Lanka are at 74 runs for the loss of two wickets after 10 overs.

SL Four Down, But Runs Flowing

Sri Lanka have lost two wickets in the last five overs, but scored 50 runs off them to take their run rate beyond eight. Charith Asalanka and Angelo Mathews currently at the crease.

Mathews, Hasaranga Blitzkriegs Takes SL Past 200

Angelo Mathews ends up with a 15-ball 30 as Sri Lanka plunder 77 runs off the last 30 balls and post a formidable total of 201 runs on the board. Captain Wanindu Hasaranga plays a lovely cameo alongside Mathews, smashing a six-ball 20 as the Dutch now have their task cut out.

NED Innings Underway

Netherlands openers Michael Levitt and Max O'Dowd are at the crease, and Angelo Mathews opens the attack for Sri Lanka. Five runs off the first over, and 10 off the second (bowled by Nuwan Thushara). The Dutch need a blockbuster powerplay to make a match of it.

Max O'Dowd Departs

Nuwan Thushara dismissed Max O'Dowd, and Netherlands' onslaught in the powerplay is halted. Meanwhile, Michael Levitt is going strong at 31 off 21 balls.

NED Knocked Out

Netherlands have officially been knocked out of the T20 World Cup, with Bangladesh winning their game against Nepal by 21 runs.

SL Have Dutch On The Ropes

The Netherlands batting has collapsed spectacularly after a strong start. Sri Lanka have plucked out eight wickets in a space of 54 runs to leave the Dutch on the brink of a colossal defeat.

NED Bowled Out For 118 Runs

Nuwan Thushara ends with three wickets, as Sri Lanka dismiss Netherlands in the 17th over for a modest total of 118. With that, Sri Lanka end their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a resounding 83-run win.
