New Zealand began warming up for ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in style with a thumping eight-wicket win over South Africa in Dubai on Sunday (September 29). The Black Ferns chased down a measly 93-run target in 14.2 overs, getting there while losing just their openers Suzie Bates and Amelia Kerr. Kerr earlier joined forces with Leigh Kasperek to scythe through the Proteas batting order. The duo snared three wickets apiece to dismiss the South Africans for 92 runs in 20 overs.
This was the first of two pre-tournament matches that both sides play, before the showpiece event kicks off.
Earlier, New Zealand captain Sophie Devine won the toss and decided to field first against South Africa.
