Batting first, RCB made 241 runs after a brilliant 92-run knock from Virat Kohli and a brisk fifty by Rajat Patidar. Cameron Green and Dinesh Karthik's cameos helped RCB set a big target for PBKS. Rilee Rossouw and Jonny Bairstow gave a good start in the powerplay but once they lost their wickets, the wickets kept falling and eventually PBKS bundled out for 181 all out after 17 overs. The debutant Vidhwath Kaverappa started with the first over for Punjab Kings and the dynamic duo of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opened the batting for RCB. Du Plessis hit a couple of boundaries in the over to give RCB a good start.

Harshal Patel was introduced into the attack in the sixth over and the new batter Rajat Patidar targeted him. He smashed him for three boundaries in the over to collect 12 runs from that.

San Curran dismissed Rajat Patidar on the last delivery of the 10th over and as the new batter Cameron Green was about to come, the rain started. The umpires directed players to leave the field. It is a slight drizzle.

Virat Kohli has completed his half-century just after the match restarted after the rain. Cameron Green has also found the gaps in between and managed to hit a few boundaries. But Kohli has targeted every bowler and has taken at least a boundary from every over.

Dinesh Karthik and Cameron Green were targeting every bowler in the death overs. Harshal Patel came to bowl the final over and got rid of Karthik on the first delivery. He also bowled Mahipal Lomror on the fourth delivery. Green was caught in the deep on the last delivery. He conceded just three runs and dismissed three batters in the final over of the innings.

Punjab Kings started with their explosive openers, Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh. RCB's left-arm spin bowler Swapnil Singh opened the bowling attack and got rid of Singh on the fourth delivery of the over. Rilee Rossouw replaced him at the crease and started with a couple of boundaries.

Sam Curran and Shashank Singh got involved in a run-out which led Ashutosh Sharma to the ground. He smashed Mohammed Siraj for a massive 80-metre six but the Indian bowler made a comeback and got him LBW out on the last ball of the over to leave the Punjab Kings reeling at 164/7.

Mohammed Siraj started the 17th over with the wicket of Harshal Patel and ended with the wicket of Arshdeep Singh to seal the victory of RCB. Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Punjab Kings by 60 runs and with this win, they also eliminated PBKS from the playoff-race.

A lot of positive signs throughout the season, but not enough to get over the line unfortunately. We knew that we had the best side for the rest of the tournament and feel gutted for the team. Gotta keep our heads up, keep learning and keep becoming better. Really enjoyed leading a great bunch of guys, would have loved a few more wins. We had some highs, and some record run-chases as well,. Lots of disappointment and apologize to the fans, we will keep fighting. The ups and downs have been quite tough, but you gotta keep learning and keep working hard.

That was a good game. We have scored 200-plus in the last 5-6 games. We have had good conversations, we were making the same mistakes over and over again. Needed aggression with the bat. We just spoke about taking wickets. We have 6-7 options in the bowling department. You need some form in your side. With a bit of luck is also required. We had a few guys looking for wickets and runs at the start of the tournament. The boys have shown character to turn it around. Everyone has chipped in with runs and the bowlers are taking wickets. For us it's important to focus on ourselves.We want to stick to the style of play that we want to do, if we do that it'll prove we are a really good team.

For me, it's still quality over quantity. For me, it works really well. Also the understanding of the game allows you to practice less, just try to replicate what I have done in the past. Still aiming to improve aspects of the game that you want to get better at. It's an evolving process. I brought out the slog-sweep against the spinners. I didn't practice it, I know I have hit it in the past. Always looking to expose that side of the field against spin. I know I need to take risks, it needs a bit of conviction. I have been managing to stay ahead of that thought. I am trying to keep up with the strike rate for me and the team. The only way to go through a tournament is to be honest with ourselves. We had those losses on the trot, we just had an honest conversation. We needed to pull up our socks. That game against KKR went down to the wire. We wanted to play for our self-respect. We just can't go out there and play in such a way and disappoint our fans. The confidence is back and we are on a roll. We wouldn't have to depend on several other aspects (had we played better earlier in the tournament.)
