QTG 1/2 (1)
Hasan Ali comes charging in, trying to hit that channel outside off, but Saud Shakeel is already reading it like a book. Oh, that’s lovely timing.
He just uses the pace, opens the face of the bat, and guides it sweetly past the slip cordon. No one moving, no one close enough, and that races away to the fence.
And he’s not done there. Same kind of delivery, same result. Shakeel is looking so composed right now, almost effortless. Just waits, waits, and then boom, that width is all he needs.
Another elegant dab, same region, backward of square, and it’s four more. Hasan Ali will not enjoy this over at all. Shakeel is in that zone where everything he touches is turning into runs.
Ohhh this is turning into fireworks now.
Moeen Ali tosses it up, trying to slow things down, but Rilee Rossouw just says “not today”.
He shuffles across, creates that little bit of room, and picks the bones out of it. Full delivery, right in the slot, and BOOM. He launches it straight down the ground, clearing long-off with absolute ease. That’s gone into the night sky and never coming back.
Back-to-back sixes and you can feel it now, 50-run partnership up, and it’s happening fast, it’s happening loud, it’s happening with authority. Rossouw is not just batting, he’s dictating terms here.
Zahid Mahmood tries to drag things back, sliding one in full on leg-stump… but Saud Shakeel is in that mood right now where nothing looks like a problem.
He drops down, gets right into position and whack, that sweep is struck with intent! Not in the air, just pure timing along the turf, racing past the infield. No chance for anyone out there.
Shakeel is just collecting boundaries like it’s routine now. Another four, and the pressure? It’s quietly shifting back onto the bowler.
Abbas Afridi goes a touch fuller this time, maybe hoping to sneak one past, but Rilee Rossouw is already lining it up.
He commits fully to the shot, no half-measures here, and drills it straight through the in-field. That’s hit with real conviction! Mid-off takes off in chase, giving it everything, but you can tell early, this is a lost cause.
The ball just keeps rolling, teasing the fielder all the way before kissing the boundary rope. FOUR more.
Rossouw is in complete control now, anything even slightly off, and he’s putting it away without hesitation.
Ohhh hang on, that’s a breakthrough out of nowhere.
Rizwanullah goes short and wide, almost inviting the cut, and Hasan Nawaz takes the bait. He throws his hands at it, really goes hard, but oh no, he’s picked the fielder out perfectly.
Straight to Abbas Afridi, and this time there’s no mistake. Safe hands, sharp catch, and just like that, the momentum takes a little dent.
Hasan Nawaz walks back for 3 off 5, and you can see the frustration. It was there to hit, but not there to hit straight to the man. Rizwanullah gets the last laugh, and suddenly, the fielding side has something to cheer about again.
What a turnaround this has been! Quetta Gladiators, staring at disaster at 1/2 after Hasan Ali ripped through the top order in the very first over, have somehow powered their way to a massive 195/6. And the rescue act? Pure class.
Rilee Rossouw took charge with a stunning 90 off 54, mixing elegance with brute force, while Saud Shakeel stayed right there, flowing beautifully to a quick 57 and dragging the innings back from the brink.
Just when it felt like they might slow down, Dinesh Chandimal stepped in and gave it that late punch with a fiery 30, pushing the total into serious territory. Rizwanullah did his bit with 2/28, keeping things tight amidst the carnage, but this pitch looks like a belter, and Karachi Kings now have a real chase on their hands. Stay with us, this isn’t done yet.
Alright, here we go, chase time, and you can feel the tension building.
Jason Roy and David Warner walk out to the middle, two big names, two serious hitters, and they know exactly what’s in front of them. 196 to win. No room for a slow start here.
Roy takes strike, tapping his bat, getting into position, while Alzarri Joseph has the ball in hand, steaming in to kick things off. Pace, bounce, early intent, this is going to be a proper battle right from ball one.
Field is set, crowd buzzing, and here we go.
Things are going smoothly for the openers, and Warner adds a bit of fortune to the flow! Jahandad Khan digs it in short outside off, Warner charges down and swings hard, doesn’t quite middle it, you can hear the mis-hit, but somehow it still has enough to sail over mid-wicket. Not the cleanest strike, but it’s six all the same, and everything seems to be going their way right now.
Jahandad Khan strikes as Jason Roy falls for 20 off 15, trying to go over the top but not finding the timing all night. He gets this one high on the bat and it skies over mid-on, where Alzarri Joseph judges it brilliantly running back and takes a clean catch. A big breakthrough right in the chase.
Usman Tariq drifts one outside off, and Warner absolutely smokes it back past the bowler! No chance in the follow-through, it races away to the fence. That’s a statement shot, and with it comes a landmark moment: Warner brings up his 6th PSL fifty.
And he celebrates it in style, takes a moment, pulls out his bat, and writes a little note on it. Calm, composed, but clearly enjoying the occasion as the crowd acknowledges another commanding knock.
Khalil Ahmed goes full, but Reeza Hendricks is right on it, he leans in and drills it straight down the ground. Clean strike, no doubt about that one. It races past long-off in a flash, no chance to cut it off.
Cross borders at the Indian national capital, where the Delhi Capitals are taking on Punjab Kings, South African pacer Lungi Ngidi suffered a horrifying head injury.
In the 3rd over of the 2nd innings, a miscued shot from Priyansh Arya went flying towards mid-off with Lungi Ngidi attempting to take the catch but ended up with his head bouncing after hitting the ground.
As a result, the 30-year-old was stretched off the ground in an ambulance.
That's it from the 1st match of the Saturday double header in the Pakistan Super League. The Karachi Kings have beaten Quetta Gladiators by 9 wickets in an one-sided affair. Skipper David Warner was adjudged man of the match for his exceptional 88 off 47 balls.
