The second and final T20 international encounter between Sri Lanka and New Zealand saw a dramatic turnaround in the second innings, courtesy Lockie Ferguson's game-changing hat-trick and a sensational final over by Glenn Phillips. Chasing a 109-run target, the hosts were bowled out for 103 in 19.5 overs as the Blackcaps won the thrilling game by five runs in Dambulla on Sunday (November 10, 2024). With that, the two-match series ended in a 1-1 draw. (More Cricket News)

Pathum Nissanka (52) scored over half of Sri Lanka's runs but got little support from the other end as Ferguson's hat-trick changed the game's momentum entirely.

Ferguson dismissed Kusal Perera off the last ball of his first over, and returned to trap Kamindu Mendis in front off the first ball of his second. He then had Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka caught behind off the next ball to complete the well-deserved hat-trick.

Meanwhile, New Zealand wicketkeeper Mitchell Hay made history, becoming the first wicketkeeper to play a part in six dismissals in a single T20I innings, surpassing the previous record of five set by Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad against Oman in 2015.
