Cristina Morales Out; Lara Fernandez to Face Supergirl At ONE Fight Night 13

The Thai phenom has a new opponent for her kickboxing clash this Friday in U.S. primetime.

Thai phenom Anna “Supergirl” Jaroonsak is aiming to make a run at the ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Title, and she’ll be facing a new opponent at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian this Friday, August 4.

The 19-year-old prodigy was originally scheduled to meet ISKA Atomweight K-1 World Champion Cristina Morales, but the Spaniard has not been medically cleared to compete.

As a result, “Supergirl” will throw down with another Spanish striker in Lara Fernandez in a 118-pound catchweight bout live in U.S. primetime at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Anna – the younger sister of fellow ONE Championship athlete Nat “Wondergirl” Jaroonsak – is a PBA Thailand Champion who made a name for herself in her country’s Muay Thai scene with powerful striking and devastating knees.

The Bangkok native owns an impressive 39-6-1 career record in the striking arts, which includes a 60-second knockout victory over Milagros Lopez and a narrow split-decision win over Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva.

In her most recent appearance earlier this year, “Supergirl” accepted a kickboxing bout with former two-sport queen Stamp Fairtex on just 24 hours’ notice. Though she fell on the wrong side of a razor-close split decision, the teen earned a US$50,000 performance bonus for her impressive effort.

Despite the loss, “Supergirl” gained a new level of confidence by pushing the former ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion to the limit. With that experience and a full training camp under her belt, she is eager to see how far she can go in the sport.

While the Jaroonsak representative is eyeing kickboxing glory, her opponent is also determined to get back into the win column and erase the memory of her most recent performance.

Fernandez – a decorated ISKA Kickboxing and WBC Muay Thai World Champion – battled WMC Muay Thai World Champion Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom at ONE Fight Night 12 in Lumpinee Stadium, losing in less than a minute.

Although the Spaniard didn’t have much time to showcase her skills that night, she’ll have a chance for redemption when she returns to the same venue and squares off against Phetjeeja’s Thai compatriot this Friday.
