All-rounder Andre Russell returns to the West Indies T20I side after almost two years. He is included in the 15-member squad to play a three-match T20I series against England
All-rounder Andre Russell has been selected in the West Indies squad for the upcoming T20I bilateral series against England on home soil. He made his comeback in the Caribbean side after two years. He last played in the maroon jersey in the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE. (Cricket News)
Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran and Kyle Mayers also came back in the T20 side after missing the ODI series against England. Youngster Matthew Forde, who recently made his debut in the ODIs against England has also been included in the T20I side. His performance in the last ODI sealed the spot in the 15-member squad.
Rovman Powell will lead the team and ODI skipper Shai Hope will be his deputy in T20Is. Sherfane Rutherford has also been included in the T20 team after almost four years. The three-match T20I series will start on December 13 in Barbados.
Keeping the next year's T20 World Cup in the eye, West Indies Cricket is making some foundational changes and adding some veterans in the team that could be useful because the upcoming T20 series against England is the only home series before the T20 World Cup that is scheduled in the USA and West Indies.

"This will be the final home T20I series for the West Indies in 2023, as they prepare to be one of the two host teams for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA in June 2024," West Indies Cricket selector Desmond Haynes said. "We have selected a squad that we think gives us the best chance of success in that tournament. We will continue to assess in the lead-up to the competition."
