England left-arm pacer David Willey showed his team what they will miss as he picked up three wickets in his last international match on Saturday. His timely scalps disrupted the Pakistan chase and the middle-order crumbled. Agha Salman was the only batter who could mount a challenge as Pakistan slumped to 244 all out in reply to England's target of 338. Test captain Ben Stokes and former captain Joe Root starred with the bat for the English side. As for Pakistan, their journey in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 came to an end with this loss in Kolkata. Buttler: "Nice to put in a good performance and finish that way. Ultimately it's been a disappointing tournament. Lots to reflect on. Got off to a really good start, guys in the middle set it up for the end. That's what we're capable of, haven't showed it enough. We shoud've been able to cope without Ben. We know what a class player Ben is. These last two games he's played fantastically well. Not having him for a few games certainly was a challenge, but we're good enough to deal with that. We spoke before the game about - if this is the last game of an era, let's make some good memories. Wherever we go from here, today is a good day. He's been fantastic (Willey). Always finding a way - that's been the hallmark. A team man who'll be missed. It won't be the drastic change of playing style like 2015. It's about making sure we'll push on from here."

Babar: "Yes, very disappointed with the performance. If we had won SA match, could've been a different story. But yes, have made mistakes in bowling, batting and fielding. We gave 20-30 runs extra. Bowled few loose deliveries. Our spinners haven't taken wickets. That's had a big effect. If spinners don't take wickets in middle over, you struggle. We have to sit together. Let's see. Will take positives and discuss our mistakes also. I will do the best to pitch in my experience (keen to lead?)."

Haris Rauf (35) and Mohammad Wasim Jr gave a fightback, hit some boundaries, and a couple of maximums. Though these runs couldn't bring victory to Pakistan, but they managed to narrow down the losing run from over 150 runs to 93 runs.

9:15 PM: PAK - 209/9; Overs 31-40 Highlights

Continuous fall of wickets of Pakistan as they can't hold the castle against the England bowlers. Middle-order of Pakistan crumbled like pieces of cards. David Willey, Adil Rashid, and Moeen Ali spells were a nightmare for the Men In Green.

8:36 PM: PAK - 145/5; Overs 21-30 Highlights

Moeen Ali bowled Mohammad Rizwan (36) who was bowled in a comical fashion. English spinners made the most of the spinning conditions as Pakistan batters look rattled. Saud Shakeel also could not last long as he was bowled by Adil Rashid.

7:55 PM: PAK - 89/3; Overs 11-20 Highlights

Adil Rashid and Gus Atkinson's tight bowling kept the Pakistan batters at bay. Babar Azam (38) hit a few shots but was dismissed by Atkinson as he pulled shot straight to hand at mid-wicket. Saud Shakeel hit consecutive fours off Moeen Ali's over.

7:12 PM: PAK - 43/2; Overs 1-10 Highlights

Pakistan are officially out of the World Cup. Both the openers Abdullah Shafique (0) and Fakhar Zaman (1) were trapped by David Willey. Babr Azam hit a couple of boundaries. Mohammad Rizwan joined him at the crease and started his gameplay slowly.

6:20 PM: Innings Break!
What a finish to the game. After a slow start from the English openers, Jonny Bairstow (59) and Dawid Malan (31) batted with gusto as they started off on a positive note. However, Pakistan bowlers struck with Iftikhar Ahmed and Haris Rauf striking early. But a 100-plus stand from Ben Stokes (84) and Joe Root (60) gave the reigning champions some parity as they got back into the game.

Shaheen Afridi sent back both Root and Stokes but Harry Brook (30) and Jos Buttler (27) did provide some fireworks at the end. Rauf (3/64) was the form bowler for the Men In Green despite the hammering in the first three overs. Babar Azam's men need to chase this target inside 6.4 overs, if they are to better the NRR of the Kiwis and qualify for the semis.

6:00 PM: ENG - 337/9; Overs 41-50 Highlights
England finish with a massive 337 for the loss of nine wickets against Pakistan at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Jos Buttler and Harry Brook provided some fireworks but Pakistan bowlers especially Haris Rauf, scalped three wickets, as the Men In Green ended the game on a positive note. David Willey, who is playing his final game, hit few boundaries but was dismissed by Mohammad Wasim Jr.

Ben Stokes made most of the dropped catch as he counterattacked Pakistan bowlers. Mohammad Rizwan was again in the thick of things as he wasted a DRS against Joe Root. Mohammad Wasim Jr troubled Joe Root with some swing but the English batter counterattacked Wasim with consecutive fours.

Pakistan's tryst with bad fielding continued as they dropped Ben Stokes on 24 in the 25th over. The all-rounder seized the opportunity as he smashed three fours off Shaheen Afridi. England scored 58 runs in this phase as Pakistan bowlers toiled in the Kolkata heat.

Babar Azam's men clawed their way back in the game with two wickets in this phase. Iftikhar Ahmed struck by dismissing Dawid Malan. Jonny Bairstow brought up his fifty but could not convert into a huge ton as Haris Rauf sent him packing for 59. England scored only 40 runs in this phase.

After a cautious start from England openers Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow, they unleashed boundaries as Pakistan bowlers struggled with lines and lengths. Haris Rauf again was poor with his line as he conceded 31 runs in his three overs. Malan missed a few at the start against Shaheen Afridi but then got himself in the groove as he punished the bad balls.
