France are on course to defend their world cup crown as they ensured their progression to the semifinals with a win over England. It took just 17 minutes for France to take the lead as Aurelien Tchouameni scored from long range after collecting a pass from Antoine Griezmann. In the second half, Bukayo Saka was fouled by Tchoumeni which earns a penalty for England. Harry Kane made no mistake and dispatched the spot kick with ease to equalize. In the 78th minute, Olivier Giroud rose high and scored a brilliant headed goal from a Griezmann cross to put France back into the lead. Just three minutes later, England were awarded a penalty after VAR review. Unfortunately, Kane skied it over the bar as England failed to find the equalizer. England were bright throughout the game but couldn’t make the most of their chances whereas France scored twice and kept the lead. They will now face Morocco in the semifinals.
