Amit Rohidas and Hardik Singh scored one goal each to help India triumph over Spain in a packed Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela on Friday. The Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium hosted its first international match when England took on Wales earlier on Friday, which was followed by hosts India taking on Spain, and it did not disappoint. Both teams found themselves equally matched in the initial 10 minutes, but the final few minutes of the first quarter saw the Harmanpreet Singh-led team draw first blood courtesy a Amit Rohidas goal. It was India's 200th goal of the tournament overall. Indian goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak was instrumental in denying the Spanish attack a chance to equalise. Hardik Singh would then double the lead at half-time off a counter-attack weaving past four defenders. India's defensive prowess contributed a great deal in helping them edge out Spain. They will now face England in their next match on Sunday.
