Follow-on victors

  • December 1894: England (325 and 437) beat Australia (586 and 166) by 10 runs at Sydney Cricket Ground. The first-ever Test to involve six playing days was the first instance of a team winning a Test after following on.
  • July 1981: England (174 and 356) beat Australia (401-9 declared and 111) by 18 runs at Headingley, Leeds. It was England's first win in 13 Tests since the Mumbai Test in 1979-80
  • March 2001: India (171 and 657-7 declared) beat Australia (445 and 212) by 171 runs at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, ending Australia's world record 16-consecutive Test wins run. (Statistics: Anant Gaundalkar)
