Mohun Bagan's goal was given offside. Mohun Bagan missed a big chance when Greg Stewart's brilliant in-step pass found Mclaren, but his shot was saved by Gill. Liston's cross from the left went into the goal, but Manvir's attempt to go for a header resulted in the referee Tejas cancelling the goal due to offside.

Souvik Chakrabarti got a yellow card for attacking Greg Stewart from behind and catching his neck. Stewart was also manhandled by other East Bengal players but the referee interfered and gave a yellow card to Souvik.

Jamie Maclaren gave a lead to the Mohun Bagan with a brilliant goal in the 41st minute of the game. Manvir gave a grounded pass from the right flank and Maclaren just used his right foot to show direction to the ball and it went right into the net. Anwar Ali tried, but was late to react.

Three minutes were added in the first half and despite that, the hosts were unable to level the scoreline as Mohun Bagan Super Giant are leading with one goal.

The second half started with a yellow card for Apuia but Mohun Bagan didn't stop there. They managed to get a hold on the ball and Liston passes the ball from left flank to Jamie Maclaren who was near the goalkeeper but he missed and ball went to Greg Stewart. He managed to hit the ball but Prabhsukhran Singh Gill came in front of him and the ball went away.

East Bengal was given a corner but they missed the opportunity to level the scoreline. The ball went to Liston who was at the left flank and he took the ball single-handedly from there to the opponent's goalpost. He took him aim from a distance and went for it. The ball was going inside and was at just above the keeper's height who collected the ball with a jump.

Nandha Kumar and Rakip were replaced with Jesin and Lalchungnunga in the East Bengal FC. Meanwhile, the goal scorer Jamie Maclaren was also replaced by Dimitrios Petratos.

Mohun Bagan's Dimitri Petratos found the ball from a pass from right flank and was going towards the goalpost but while going for the ball, Prabhsukhran Singh Gill jumped on his boots and he fell over. The referee gave that a penalty. And Petratos hit on the right side of the goalpost to double the lead.

Six minutes were added in the second half and the fireworks were already started. The Mariners supporters were showing fireworks from the arena. But the East Bengal players had also accepted their defeat and looked tired in the stoppage time.
