Hello and welcome to the live blog for the ISL 2024/25 season opener, Mohun Bagan Super Giant vs Mumbai City FC, that will be played at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Last season's finalists Mohun Bagan will renew their rivalry on Friday, marking the start of a new chapter with Kolkata Maidan's 'Big Three' now competing in India's top-tier football competition.

Ahead of their season opener against MBSG, some of the foreign recruit from Mumbai City FC, visited a local Ganesh pandal in the city. Here are some of the snaps posted on their X account.

The 2024-25 season of the ISL will have 13 teams, battling it out, with Mohammedan Sporting Club, who earned promotion after finishing at the top of the I-League.

GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!! What A Start To The New Season! MCFC, protecting a corner, fail to defend the long cross from Ashish Rai, as it falls to Greg Stewart who heads it down to Alberto Rodriguez who nods in the MCFC net to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.

But Mumbai City FC should not give up hope. Just a fortnight back, MBSG were 2-0 up against NorthEast United FC in the Durand Cup 2024 final but the latter came back in the second half to win 3-2. MCFC will look to take inspiration from them.
