Malaysia’s sealed their second victory of the Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024 season, keeping their dream run alive and they thrashed Thailand 2-0, who now head home winless today at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium. (Match Highlights | More Hockey News)

Malaysia made 15 circle penetrations and earned 5 penalty corners, one of which was converted. In contrast, Thailand managed only 11 circle penetrations and failed to earn any penalty corners.

After South Korea's 0-2 loss to China in the second game at the same venue on Sunday, Malaysia secured their spot in the semifinals—a result that feels like a dream come true!

The Malaysians began their season on a disappointing note, suffering a 0-4 loss to India in their opening match, followed by a humiliating 0-5 defeat against China. They finally clinched their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over South Korea. However, their misery continued as Japan defeated them 2-1 in the fourth match.

Yet, in a surprising turn of events, Ibrahim Nasihin's team delivered a shock to everyone, securing a 2-0 win against Thailand in their final group stage match. This victory propelled them into the semifinals, defying the odds and keeping their tournament hopes alive.

For Thailand, this tournament remains a challenging lesson. They kicked off with a humiliating 0-15 loss to the giants, China, followed by a 1-1 draw with Japan, which was the only point they earned. After that, they endured another heavy defeat, a 0-13 loss to hosts India, and then suffered a 0-2 clean sheet loss to Malaysia.
