Hyderabad FC Ropes In Defender Vignesh From Mumbai City

Vignesh made more than 50 appearances for his former club and won the ISL Shield and the Trophy in the 2020-21 season. He also donned the franchise's colours in the AFC Champions League 2022.

Hyderabad FC have opted for the service of defender Vignesh Dakshinamurthy, as they have signed him from the 2022-23 League Shield champions, Mumbai City FC, at an unrevealed sum for a period of four years.

The Mysore-born footballer is the maiden new signing for the club prior to the 2023-24 season.

Having started his career with Ozone FC in Bengaluru, Vignesh drew the attention of Mumbai City in 2018 and got selected in their squad. The full-back made more than 50 appearances for his former club and won the ISL Shield and the Trophy in the 2020-21 season. He also donned Mumbai’s colours in the AFC Champions League 2022.

Hyderabad FC owner Varun Tripuraneni sounds extremely happy for being able to sign a player of Vignesh’s reputation and believes that the defender will bolster their chances in the coming seasons.

“We’ve been tracking Vignesh for a while now and are extremely happy to have him on board. He was an integral part of two Shield-winning campaigns and knows the demands at this level. Vignesh will be a long-term asset for Hyderabad FC, and we believe he will add a lot of strength to our team in the coming seasons.”

On joining his new club; he is ecstatic and believes that Hyderbad FC can contribute heavily to the next phase of his career.

"I'm very excited to join Hyderabad FC. Over the last few seasons, the club has shown immense faith in young Indian players and I believe this is the best place for the next stage of my career,” said Vignesh.

He is grateful to be in the team and can’t contain his excitement to play for the club.

"I'm thankful to the management for showing a lot of faith in me. We have an exciting squad at the club, and I can't wait to get down to the field and put on the yellow and black jersey," expressed the 25-year-old.
