ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Schedule Announced, India Vs Pakistan On October 15 At Ahmedabad

ICC releases Cricket World Cup schedule, marquee India-Pakistan game to take place in Ahmedabad on October 15.

With exactly 100 days to go for the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for the mega cricket event at a ‘Countdown to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023’ event in Mumbai. Ten teams will feature in the tournament, which will be played across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19. The Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad will host the opener as well as the final. The other nine venues are Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune. Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad will host the practice games. 

The Indian cricket team will begin its campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. After Australia, India will meet Afghanistan on Oct 11 in Delhi. Four days later, India take on arch-rivals Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 15.

  • India vs Pakistan, October 15 - Ahmedabad 
  • India vs Bangladesh, October 19 - Pune 
  • India vs New Zealand, October 22 - Dharamsala 
  • India vs England, October 29 - Lucknow 
  • India vs Qualifier 2, November 2 - Mumbai 
  • India vs South Africa, November 5 - Kolkata 
  • India vs Qualifier 1, November 11 - Bengaluru 

Defending champions England will take on New Zealand in a much-awaited clash between the 2019 World Cup finalists that opens the tournament in Ahmedabad. 

Eight teams have qualified for the 46-day event through the Cricket World Cup Super League while the final two spots will be taken by the finalists of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier taking place in Zimbabwe. 

The tournament retains the round-robin format like in the last edition, with all teams playing against each other for a total of 45 league matches. There are six day matches which will start at 10h30 Indian Standard Time (IST) while all other matches, including the knockouts, will be day-night fixtures starting at 14h00 IST. 

The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, to be played in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. The semi-finals and the final will have reserve days.
