Rohit Sharma's side completely outplayed Australia to scalp the first Test by an innings and 132 runs in the four-match series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Ravichandran Ashwin claimed yet another five-wicket haul, with Ravindra Jadeja taking three as India bundled out Australia for 91 runs in the guests' second innings. It was Ravichandran Ashwin's 31st five-for in Test cricket. Earlier, Patel hit a career-best 84 (174 balls; 10x4s, 1x6) in an entertaining 52-run ninth wicket partnership with Shami who was at his aggressive best in his 37 from 47 balls (2x4s, 3x6s). In Australia's second innings, Aussie batters had no reply to the Indian spin wizards as Ashwin and Jadeja ran through the visitors. The next Test match starts on February 17 at Delhi.
