- Kohli’s 54 in this game represents his ninth fifty in WC 2023. He now owns the record for most fifties by a batter in an edition of a World Cup. Tendulkar had scored seven fifties in the 2002-03 edition and Shakib Al Hasan had scored seven fifties in the 2019 edition.

- Kohli took a catch in the final, which fetched him 20 catches in the World Cup and with it he became the third fielder (other than wicketkeepers) to pouch 20-plus catches in the World Cup. The others are Ricky Ponting (28) and Joe Root (25).

He went past Tendulkar’s 194 runs. Kohli is the fourth batter to total 200-plus runs against Australia in the World Cup. Others are – Kumar Sangakkara (290), Aravinda de Silva (272) and Brian Lara (261).

- With 246 runs against Australia to his credit, Kohli has now posted 200-plus runs against four opponents in the World Cup. He shares this record with Tendulkar, who also has scored 200-plus runs against four oppositions.

- WC 2023 witnessed seven occasions of batters scoring 500-plus runs. It is the second occasion of seven batters scoring 500-plus runs in an edition of the World Cup. The 2019 edition had witnessed seven batters scoring 500-plus runs.

- Rohit Sharma scored 597 runs and David Warner scored 535 runs in WC 2023 to post 500-plus runs in two editions of the World Cup. They emulated Tendulkar, who has scored 500-plus runs in two editions of the World Cup.

- Sharma scored 597 runs in WC 2023 to become the fifth captain in the history of the World Cup to post 500-plus runs in an edition. Others are – Kane Williamson (578 in 2019), Mahela Jayawardene (548 in 2006-07), Ricky Ponting (539 in 2006-07) and Aaron Finch (506 in 2019).

- Sharma, with 597 runs to his credit, owns the record for most runs by a captain in an edition of the World Cup. The previous record was held by Williamson, who had scored 578 runs in the 2019 edition. Sharma also owns the record for most runs by a captain in an edition of the World Cup on his first captaincy assignment.
