Coming in to bat for India at No. 4, Suryakumar Yadav registered his third T20I century, bringing up the milestone in just 45 deliveries.
Suryakumar Yadav turned the match on its head walking in after the fall of Rahul Tripathi's wicket with the scorecard reading 55-2. The batter would go on to toy with the Sri Lankan bowling attack scoring several scoop shots over the fine leg as well as covering other areas of the ground with masterful strokes. Yadav's 112* was a major contributor towards India's mammoth total of 228-5. In return, the visitors started reasonably well, taking the attack to the Indian bowlers scoring 44 runs in the first five overs. Their plot, however, derailed after losing three wickets in as many overs. Indian bowlers struck at regular intervals with Arshdeep Singh claiming the most wickets (3), followed by Yuzvendra Chahal and captain Hardik Pandya, who claimed two wickets apiece. Suryakumar was rightfully adjudged the player of the match, which not only saw Sri Lanka fall short by 91 runs, but also India seal their tenth straight series against the neighbours 2-1.
