After three disappointing losses in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2022, defending champions England finally lodged their first points in the tournament. Opting to field first, England's bowling were led by young Charlotte Dean who took a career-best 4/23 to skittle out India for 134 in 36.2 overs. The Indians were never in the game from the start as they were down to 28/3 in eight overs. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur tried to steady the ship with a 33-run stand but that didn't last long. A 37-run stand for the eighth wicket by Richa Ghosh and Jhulan Goswami took India past 130-run mark. Chasing a paltry total, England were in a spot of bother losing both openers with just four runs on board. But Natalie Sciver (45) and Heather Knight (53 not out) stitched 65 runs to put them in a comfortable position. England lost four more wickets towards the end, but Knight ensured safe passage with more than 19 overs to spare. Get highlights of IND-W vs ENG-W.
