Chennai Super Kings, after restricting bitter rivals Mumbai Indians to 155/7, invoked MS Dhoni to salvage their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. A three-wicket win at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai ensured that the defending champions still have a realistic chance of making the IPL playoffs. They now have four points from seven matches with two wins. Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, are as good as out with seven defeats in seven. Can they win the remaining seven matches and do the unthinkable? Probably not this time. For the record, they now own the unwanted record of losing the first seven matches in a season. Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and opted to bowl first, and Mukesh Choudhary rattled Mumbai with early wickets. But Tilak Varma hit an unbeaten 51 off 43 to help Mumbai post a fighting total, and they almost registered their first win. Unfortunately for them though, the greatest finisher in the game was still there. Daniel Sams bowled his hearts out, and took four wickets in a losing cause.
