NZ Vs BAN, First Test: Liton Das, Mominul Haque Fifties Power Bangladesh To 401/6 At Day 3 Stumps - Highlights

Bangladesh have dominated the first Test against New Zealand so far. Starting the day at 175/2, Bangladesh batters especially Mominul Haque and Liton Das showed application and determination against a formidable New Zealand attack and kept the Kiwi bowlers at bay.  The only disappointment for Bangladesh would be Mominul and Liton, both missing well-deserved centuries. While Mominul was out for 88, his partner perished shortly for 86. Bangladesh lead by 73 runs. For New Zealand, Trent Boult took three wickets while Neil Wagner scalped one on the day. Bangladesh have very little success in New Zealand and in recent times, their Test team has looked poor for various reasons.

Bangladesh finish Day 3 at 401/6, taking a lead of 73 runs.   

10:18 AM IST: Boult strikes again

Liton Das gifts away his wicket. Trying to slash hard, Das ends up edging a Trent Boult delivery to Tom Blundell behind the stumps. Bangladesh 370/6. Two new batters Yasir Ali and Mehidy Hasan at the crease.  

10:10 AM IST: Boult traps Mominul 

Trent Boult finally breaks the partnership. He traps Mominul Haque for 88. Mominul's innings came in 244 balls. Bangladesh 361/5 

9:29 AM IST: BAN touch 350

Liton Das (72*) and Mominul Haque (82*) take Bangladesh to 350. It is surprising to see how the New Zealand bowlers have failed to make most of the home conditions.  Bangladesh 350/4, lead by 22 runs 

8:56 AM IST: BAN take lead

Bangladesh take lead. The visitors have crossed New Zealand's total of 328. Liton Das (65) and Mominul Haque (69*) are currently batting in the middle. Bangladesh 329/4   

8:14 AM IST: Tea

After the fourth wicket, it was all about captain Mominul Haque and Liton Das. Both have completed their half-centuries and have so far added 104 runs for the fifth wicket. Bangladesh are 307/4 at Tea, still trailing by 21 runs with six wickets in hand.  Tea break has been announced.  

8:11 AM IST: First session

The first session of the day belonged to New Zealand. The likes of Neil Wagner and  Kyle Jamieson didn't allow the opposition to free their arms. In 26 overs, Bangladesh could only manage 45 runs losing two wickets.  

The current team, led by Mominul Haque, is missing three experienced players like Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah, but Bangladesh had one of their best days on tour in recent years on Sunday when it won all three sessions on the second day of the first cricket Test against New Zealand. The tourists’ bowlers first captured New Zealand’s last five wickets for 70 runs, dismissing the home side for 328 after it had resumed at 258 for eight, then Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Najmul Hossain Shanto made half-centuries. Their 104-run partnership for the second wicket, which occupied most of the last one-and-half sessions, guided Bangladesh to 175 for 2 in their first innings at stumps on Sunday.
