The participation of Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana in the Asia Cup final versus India has been thrown into jeopardy due to a hamstring strain, the degree of which will be determined on Friday.
During Sri Lanka's two-wicket triumph over Pakistan on Thursday, the mystery spinner hurt his right hamstring while fielding.
"Maheesh Theekshana has strained his right hamstring. The player will undergo a scan tomorrow to fully assess his condition," Sri Lanka Cricket posted on X on Thursday.
While Sri Lanka was bowling, Theekshana left the pitch several times. He was observed staggering but finished his nine-over spell in the 42-over-per-side battle before being carried off the pitch in the 39th over by the Sri Lankan dugout members.
Theekshana's injury exacerbates Sri Lanka's problems. They already lack Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Madushanka, and Lahiru Kumara.
On Sunday, Sri Lanka will face India in the final.
