It was also Shanto's captaincy debut in Test cricket and he was successful in leading his team to beat Kiwis for the first time in a home Test.
New Zealand captain Tim Southee would like to make some changes in the team before going to Dhaka for the 2nd Test. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim scored crucial fifties after captain Shanto's century to set a difficult target of 332 runs for New Zealand. But Taijul Islam's spin attack restricted them to 181 runs.
