New Zealand registered a massive 99-run win over the Netherlands in the match 6 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. After winning the toss, Netherlands had chosen to bowl first but the plan backfired as Scott Edwards' side leaked runs. Despite a valiant bowling effort from the bowlers, Netherlands gave away too many runs as New Zealand posted 322 for the loss of seven wickets. Despite Netherlands' best efforts, New Zealand are marching on with the sheer class of their batting line-up. Rachin Ravindra departed after a run-a-ball fifty, but NZ skipper Tom Latham has since come in and kept things moving at a rapid clip. Can Netherlands keep the discipline and restrict NZ in the death overs? We will soon find out.

Despite their relative inexperience at a big tournament like this, Netherlands have shown the skills and stomach for a fight so far. New Zealand batters have played well and tried to make the most of bad balls, but there haven't been too many. Paul van Meekeren sent back the dangerous young for 70, and Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell have carried it on from there. Nevertheless, the Dutch side is plugging away. This will be the fifth meeting between New Zealand and the Netherlands in the ODI format. The Kiwis have a perfect win record, 4-0. Also, the margins of victories are rather big. In the World Cup, they have met once -- which happened to be their first-ever ODI meeting -- in 1996. The second round of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 league stage fixtures starts today with an intriguing clash between New Zealand and the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The Kiwis, despite the absence of inspirational Kane Williamson, dished out an authoritative performance against holders England in the tournament opener -- another iteration of their rivalry. But the Netherlands, the only Associate team in this edition of the ODI World Cup, didn't have an enjoyable outing in their opener against Pakistan. There were moments of brilliance, but two innings of 50 overs is a long time and the so-called minnows often struggle to maintain the standard. Today, probably, the Dutchmen will bring their best game. They, of course, are a talented bunch. Then again, the Kiwis -- the "nice guys of cricket" -- can at times be brutal, always methodical and meticulous in their execution. It will be an intriguing clash indeed.
