United States’ Simone Biles did not get the perfect send off she would have hoped or expected for. However, she clinched a silver medal in the floor exercise finals, making it her 11th Olympic medal after a routine that saw her include a couple of major step out of bounds that proved costly.

French Polynesian Kauli Vaast won the gold medal in men's surfing while Caroline Marks from the United States won the women's surfing gold medal at the Paris Olympics in Tahiti.
Cheers and tears erupted from boats floating near the wave and crowds of spectators along the shore as the men's final match ended in the afternoon. Vaast pumped his arms into the air in victory after beating Jack Robinson from Australia, who received the silver medal.

The fans have started to fill into the Bercy Arena for a big basketball day in the men’s competition. Germany play Greece, while Serbia take on Australia in the quarters. France will meet Canada, while Olympic champions USA face Brazil.
Kishore Kumar Jena starts off strong with a 80.73m throw in his first attempt with two more left to better it. In the initial attempts, Jena is now second on the table.

Kishore Jena, clearly not happy with his second attempt, step over the line - and will eventually count as an invalid throw.

Rana Reider was investigated for alleged sexual misconduct by the U.S. Center for SafeSport and placed on a one-year probation that ended in May.
He was accredited for the Summer Games through the Canadian Olympic Committee for his personal work with De Grasse, the defending 200-meter champion. He's also the personal coach of Jacobs, the Italian who won the 100 meters in Tokyo three years ago, and several other sprinters. (AP)

Yavi wins in 8:52.76, taking over six seconds off the old Olympic record standing from 2008, with Uganda's Peruth Chemutai taking silver in a national record 8:53.34 and Kenya's Faith Cherotich bronze in a personal best 8:55.15.

Algeria's Imane Khelif defeats Thailand's Janjaem Suwannapheng by unanimous decision to get into the final of the women's 66kg boxing event.
Ireland's Kellie Harrington won the final of the women's 60kg boxing event to grab the gold while China Yang Wenly had to settle for silver.
