Paris Olympics Day 6 LIVE Updates: Big Day Coming Up!

The much awaited athletics events will begin today. For India, it is another big day with Swapnil Kusale in medal contention in the men's 50m 3P rifle final. In badminton, Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy will engage in a knockout battle in men's singles Round of 16. Later in the day, Satwik-Chirag and PV Sindhu will also be in action. Boxer Nikhat Zareen will resume her medal run with a tough Round of 16 battle. Last but not the least, the Indian men's hockey team faces its biggest challenge thus far in the tournament against Belgium.

The Men's 20km racewalk event is now underway at Trocadero. 

After 2km, no athlete has pulled away, but Gabriel Bordier of France, who finished 24th in this event at Tokyo 2020, maintains a narrow one-second lead.

Th Indians Akashdeep Singh, Paramjeet Singh Bisht and Vikash Singh are wearing bib numbers 50, 48 and 51 respectively.

Starting slow, only Vikash Singh has made a sprint and jumped from 20th to 12th positions.

After 7km, the 2023 silver medallist has moved into the lead, however, there's a group of 15 athletes who are within one second of him.

There was no luck for Indian racewalkers today! Akashdeep did not finish the race, Vikash and Paramjeet finished on 29th and 36th positions.

Brian Daniel of Ecuador claimed the gold medal, Caio Bonfin of Brazil took silver, and Spain's Alvaro Martin secured the bronze.

One of the images of shooter Yusuf Dikec at the Paris Games went viral when a fan shared it on X, saying, "Turkey sent a 51-year-old dude with no specialized lenses, eye cover, or ear protection, and secured the silver medal." The photo shows Dikec unusually relaxed, with one hand in his pocket and no ear protection or specialized glasses—items that all other shooters typically use to block vision in one eye and reduce glare.

The Indian woman boxer Nikhat Zareen faced a tough draw in the round of 16 at the Paris Olympics. Up against the top seed Wu Yu in the second round the Indian lost the match and ended her dream run. She was in full attacking mode but her opponent proved just to be too good.

MEDAL ALTERT! Women Racewalk Winners

Yang Jiayun from China who holds the current world record, won the gold medal at Paris Olympics in the women's 20km race walk event. She faced tough challenge from Maria Perez, but then responded with the season-best time of 1:25:54, 25 seconds to win gold.

Perez settled with silver and the bronze went to Jemima Montag of Australia, who finished second at the world championships last year.

Melvin Twellaar and Stef Broenink of the Netherlands won silver, same as Tokyo 2020. Bronze goes to Philip Doyle and team-mate Daire Lynch of Ireland.

At the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium on day 6 of the Paris Olympics 2024, the New Zealand team clinched gold in rowing, while the USA settled for silver after a fierce challenge, finishing just 0.85 seconds behind.

Great Britain finished third recovering from a poor start and claimed the 20th medal for their side at the Paris Games.

The match at Court Philippe-Chatrier was really thrilling. Zheng won the first set and, despite trailing 4-0 in the second set, she mounted a remarkable comeback, turning the tide to win 7-5, sealing the match with a decisive final point.
