Double bronze medalist in Paris, Manu Bhaker will again be in action in two pistol events' qualification rounds. Judoka Tulika Maan also begins her Paris Olympics campaign today. The mixed archery team of Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara will have a chance to redeem themselves as the duo will be in action. And then there are two massive matches. India vs Australia in men's hockey and Lakshya Sen vs Chou Tien Chen in men's singles badminton quarterfinal.
Swapnil Kushale became the first Indian to win an Olympic medal in the 50m rifle 3P event for India on Thursday.
After Kushale's bronze, there came some massive heartbreaks for India,
Nikhat Zareen was eliminated and so were Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Two of the biggest medal hopes of India eliminated within a span of two hours.
Another big eviction awaited late in the day when PV Sindhu, who had never in her two attempts come back without a medal from Olympics, faced an exit in Round of 16.
Apart from Kusale's bronze and some big medal hopes making exit, there were also some good results.
Lakshya Sen zoomed past HS Prannoy to make it to the semifinal. The men's hockey team played some superb hockey even though they lost 1-2 to Belgium.
Manu Bhaker, India's double bronze medalist at the ongoing Summer Games, will again be in action.
She will first be seen in the 25m women's pistol qualification (precision) and then in the rapid shooting round of the same qualifying event.
India's Esha Singh will be in action too. The qualifying event begins 12:30 PM IST.

The women's 25m pistol qualification round (precision) begins. From India, Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh are in the fray.
The round of 16 mixed team recurve archery match between India's Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara is about to begin. This is the first round in the event and will be followed by the quarter-finals and semi-finals, all the way to the medal rounds. With the disappointing results in archery so far from the Indians, Ankita-Dhiraj will be eyeing an improved showing.
And the Indian duo has broken no sweat in advancing to the quarter-finals. The mixed team of Ankita and Dhiraj beats Indonesia's Arif Dwi Pangestu and Diananda Choirunisa 5-1 to progress to the last-eight stage. After the precision round, rapid fire round takes place and then the top eight will go through to the final.
Chiara Leone from Switzerland has just set a new Olympic record of 464.4 in the women’s 50m 3 positions event to win gold. Sagen Maddalena takes silver, while Zhang Qiongyue of China clinches bronze.

Great Britain’s Adam Peaty will miss the 4x100m medley relay heats as he was diagnosed with Covid-19, a day after he clinched silver in the 100m breaststroke at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. He will be replaced by James Wilby.
After the precision stage, Bhaker finishes third with 294-7x, accumulating 99 in the last series. As things stands, Hungary’s Veronika Major leads with 294-15x, while France’s Camille Jedrzejewski has 294-13x. Esha Singh is 10th with 291-6x.
In the decathlon, defending Olympic champion Damian Warner from Canada wins heat 3 of the men’s 100m, clocking 10.25, taking 1035 into the long jump event.

India’s Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhagat lose the Archery mixed team event bronze-medal match 6-2 and were just short of claiming the country’s first Archery medal.

Tajinder's second attempt has been ruled a foul. It appears the athlete intentionally touched the protective cage after the throw. This reduces any chance of him qualifying for the final.
With one attempt remaining, Tajinder is currently placed 15th.
