Jurgen Klopp’s men took on Southampton at Anfield and walked out as easy victors with a scoreline of 3-1. Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino opened the scoring in the sixth minute, scoring a header from Andy Robertson’s free kick. The Brazilian glanced the ball over to the far corner past Gavin Bazunu. Within just three minutes, Southampton found the equalizer through Che Adams. James Ward-Prowse whipped a free kick into the box, forcing Alisson to come off his line but Adams got ahead of the Reds keeper and headed home to make it 1-1. As Southampton struggled to clear their lines, Darwin Nunez popped up in the 21st minute to score. Harvey Elliot crosses it in to find Nunez who volleyed it first time in the bottom corner to give Liverpool the deserved lead. The Uruguayan was on target again, scoring Liverpool’s third goal and his second of the night. In the 42nd minute, Thiago released Robertson on the left who sprinted down before hitting a low and inviting cross in the box for Nunez who connected well and slid past Bazunu to make it 3-1.
