The Reds conceded early in the second half after Jean-Philippe Mateta converted from the spot, but were provided a timely boost for the latter stages of the game through Jordan Ayew's red card. Liverpool immediately capitalized, restoring parity through Mohammed Salah's 200th club goal before grabbing the winner in stoppage time through Harvey Elliott.
