"At the moment I think it was made clear in the past that it's a 50-over World Cup year for us. And for some of the guys, it's not possible to play all formats. If you look at the schedule, there were back-to-back matches, so we decided on just looking at some players' workload that we wanted to make sure that they get enough break time and manage them. I definitely fall in that (category) as well," Rohit said at an event in the United States of America, as per Indian Express.
Workload management has been a major talking point for the Indian cricketing fraternity for a while now. Fitness of the likes of Kohli, Shami, Jadeja, etc is closely looked at especially with the ODI World Cup in mind.
That is why, the T20I side has seen a lot of fresh faces with the likes of Ravi Bishnoi, Mukesh Kumar amongst others who have got a run-in.
In Rohit's absence, Hardik Pandya is being given the mantle of leading the T20 side. There are even murmurs around the cricketing fraternity that the Gujarat Titans skipper could be handed over the reins of the T20I side full-time post the ODI Cricket World Cup.
