Rohit Sharma Unhappy With Team India Bowlers And Fielders For Poor Show Against Nepal In Asia Cup 2023

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was not at all happy with the bowling and fielding effort put in by his players.

India vs Pakistan ended in a stalemate as both the teams shared points due to rains in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The Men In Blue however fought back in their second group game against Nepal with a thumping 10-wicket win via DLS method in Pallekele on Monday. (More Cricket News)

Despite a rain delay of almost two hours, the match was shortened to a 23-over contest as India chased down the revised target of 147 with minimal difficulties.

However, India captain Rohit Sharma on Monday admitted that his side has not played its best cricket in the Asia Cup so far and needs improvement in the Super 4 stage of the tournament.

"We haven't been at our best, but a few guys are coming out after months out of the game. Once we move ahead in the Super Fours, there's no room for complacency," Rohit said at the post-match presentation.

"First game, under pressure, Hardik and Ishan got us into a good position. Today our bowling was okay, but fielding was below-par."

Rohit and Shubman Gill remained not out on 74 and 67 respectively while chasing a revised target of 145 in 23 overs.

"To start with, there were some nerves, but once I got my eye in, I wanted to cash in and get my team home."

India's fielding was poor to say the least against Nepal. The Asian minnows posted a valiant 230 on the board but that wouldn't have been possible had the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan hadn't dropped their straightforward catches in the first five overs. Due to the shoddy fielding, Nepal's opening pair of Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh capitalised on India's errors and built up a solid score.
