SA Vs BAN: Bangladesh Cricket Team Scripts Historic 2-1 ODI Series Win In South Africa - Highlights

The Bangladesh national cricket won the ODI series 2-1 against South Africa on Wednesday. Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bat first. The scorecard reading 66/1 even proved his decision right, but what followed was absolute carnage from the Bangaldesh team. Their bowlers and fielders teamed up to pick one after another South African wickets and eventually bundled out the Proteas for a paltry 154. Even the lady luck was on Bangladesh's side as some poor balls also ended up getting wickets for them. Taskin Ahmed was the star with the ball with figures of 5/35. In the chase too, both the openers - Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal - rode their luck at the beginning before cashing in on the opportunity beautifully and guiding the side to a historic series win in South Africa. While Liton fell on 48 runs, a ruthless Tamim carried his bat with an unbeaten knock of 87 runs that came off 82 balls. His innings was laced with 14 fours.

Taskin Ahmed has won both the Player of the Match award and the Player of the Series award. 

“I'm feeling happy and proud as we have won for the first time in South Africa. This is also my first Player of the Series award. I have been following the same process in the last one and a half year, I followed the same process today and hopefully I will continue,” said Taskin after the game.

Tidy work from Bangladesh so far. Their bowlers were on the money and fielders just complemented them to put up a stunning show, limiting South Africa to their lowest total against the Tigers in ODIs. Taskin Ahmed returned 5/35 while Shakib Al Hasan picked 2/24. Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan shared a wicket each.

This is terrific stuff from Bangladesh but they must know that half of the work still needs to be done. The pitch is a bit sticky and has some good bounce on offer. South Africa will defintely come on all attack, and it's now a test of character for the Bangladeshi batters. The excitement is at its peak, can't wait for the second innings to start.

Yasir Ali has dropped the catch of Keshav Maharaj. This will hurt Bangladesh for now and even more in the upcoming time if they fail to cross the line by a small margin. Hello and welcome to the space guys. We are just minutes away from the toss.  

Bangladesh have enough experience to win needle games. On Wednesday, the visitors will have to summon their best skills against a world-class pace attack led by Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi.

Several South Africans like Rabada, who took a five-wicket haul in the last ODI at Wanderers, Nigidi, David Miller, Quinton de Kock and  Rassie van der Dussen will be off to the IPL 2022 after Wednesday's game. A win and good performance will give them extra belief when they land in India, just in time for the world's richest T20 tournament to begin.

Bangladesh will be completely focused. In over two decades, BAN have never won in South Africa but this series has been different. Bangladesh ended their losing streak in Centurion. A series triumph at the same venue will be extra special.

Tamim Iqbal's team has balance and depth. If the top order can handle the South African attack in the first 10 overs, BAN should put up a good score.

In the first ODI in Centurion, Bangladesh scored 314 for seven. Only two out of 12 times have teams lost scoring after 300-plus runs batting first at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Bangladesh are likely to play with an unchanged XI. South Africa will miss the injured Wayne Parnell.
