Replacing ace Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been named as the captain of the MI Cape Town team in SA20, South Africa's flagship T20 league whose 2024 season begins on January 10. (More Cricket News)
The Cape Town franchise had earlier announced Rashid as their skipper but the Afghan is still recuperating from his injury.

"Rashid Khan is unavailable currently, as he continues his recovery from injury. The MI CT wish Rashid a quick recovery and look to have him back on the playing field soon," the franchise said in a media statement.
Rashid has been named in Afghanistan's squad that will tour India for a three-match T20I series, but he is unlikely to be play the first two matches at the very least.
MI Cape Town will begin their SA20 2024 campaign with a game against Durban Super Giants on January 11. The team has some leading players such as Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer and Liam Livingstone in their ranks.
