9:50 pm: BAN 200/8 - Overs 31-42 Highlights
Mahmudullah with the support of Hasan Mahmud 15(25) delayed the win for South Africa in Mumbai. He targeted all the Proteas bowlers and charged with sixes and fours. Hasan Mahmud gave good support to his brilliance, but could not last long. Kagiso Rabada got his caught out in the 37th over. Bangladesh is on the verge of being out of the tournament and Mahmudullah seemed to desperately turn the tables for his team. He is fighting like a true warrior on the ground. Mustafizur Rahman is with him at no. 10 but Proteas bowlers looked desperate to take wickets and helpless in front of Mahmudullah. Mahmudullah is in his 80s and would be eyeing for a century. Target is still very far from here. Proteas would be finding quick wickets.

8:50 pm: BAN 125/7 - Overs 21-30 Highlights
Bangladesh have managed 53 runs in this phase and lost only two wickets. Keshav Maharaj removed Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 11 and left Bangladesh to crawl for runs. Mahmudullah from one end kept scoring irrespective of wickets falling from the other end. Nasum Ahmed also added some runs in between and was looking good when he smashed two fours in two balls of Coetzee. But then, Coetzee struck back and took his catch in his bowling. Nasum made 19 runs off 19 balls with three boundaries. Mahmud Hasan and Mahmudullah have taken the innings further and both have played positive cricket. Proteas need 3 more wickets.

8:00 pm: BAN 72/5 - Overs 11-20 Highlights
Bangladesh needed some partnership to sail the road towards the target but further blows halted the journey for some time. Gerald Coetzee gets rid of Mushfiqur Rahim for 8(17). Then Kagiso Rabada got Litton Das LBW for 22(44). It blew out the remaining hopes of Bangladesh. Keshav Maharaj was brought into the attack in the 17th over. Mehidy Hasan Miraz survived after being given LBW in the 19th over. South African bowlers are going with their full power and it seemed as if they want to register a big win here in Mumbai. Bangladesh's approach looked defensive throughout their innings and they need to show some intent of fightback in the match.

7:20 pm: BAN 36/3 - Overs 1-10 Highlights
Marco Jansen and Lizaad Williams opened the bowling attack for South Africa and Bangla batters also went for a slow and steady route to start the mighty chase of 383 runs. Proteas bowlers kept creating pressure and eventually got success when Marco Jansen struck back-to-back and sent first Tanzid Hasan 12(17) and then Najmul Hossain Shanto 0(1) back to the pavilion. Shakib Al Hasan came and it was his chance to take his team near to the target but Lizaad Williams got his wicket and sent him back to the pavilion. Heinrich Klaasen took all three catches. Bangla Tigers need a partnership here. Proteas are looking for another wicket.

6:20 pm: Bangladesh start batting!
With 383 runs required to chase, Bangladesh openers Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das started the batting. Marco Jansen opened the attack for South Africa and conceded just 2 runs off the first over. Bangladesh are off the mark.

Innings Break!
First Quinton de Kock, then Heinrich Klaasen. South Africa, thus, tamed Bangladesh in Mumbai. This is a presumptuous statement considering the 23rd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is only one innings old, but the highest successful total chased down in the competition's history is 344/9, once achieved by Pakistan against Sri Lanka a few days back. Bangladesh now need 383. And it will take one Herculean task for the Tigers to do so. Aiden Markram, standing in for injured Temba Bavuma, won the toss and opted to bat first at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. It looked like a bad call, losing two wickets for 36 runs inside eight overs. But what followed some demolition act from the Proteas batters.

Target set for Bangladesh - 383 runs in 300 balls

Brief Scores:

RSA - 382/5 (50)     |    Quinton De Kock - 174(140),  Heinrich Klaasen - 90(49)      |     Hasan Mahmud - 6-0-67-2

5:40 pm: RSA 382/5 - Overs 41-50 Highlights
It was absolute carnage in Mumbai in the last 10 overs when South Africa displayed their immense hitting capacity. Quinton de Kock first sent every ball that came into his zone, outside the boundaries. Then Heinrich Klaasen followed him. Hasan Mahmud was very expensive but eventually got the wicket of Quinton de Kock who was reaching his double century. He went back after making 174(140). Then came David Miller who showed his skills with a quickfire of 34(15) with 4 sixes and one four. Heinrich Klaasen hit the first ball for six in the last over of Hasan Mahmud but got out after trying another hit on 90 runs in just 49 balls. South Africa posted a total of 382 runs on the board after 50 overs and now, if Bangladesh want to remain in the race for semis of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, they have to achieve this target.

4:58 pm: RSA 238/3 - Overs 31-40 Highlights
Aiden Markram got out on Shakib's bowling. Heinrich Klaasen came to the pitch and started hitting big runs. Quinton de Kock reached his 3rd century of the tournament easily and kept going after that as well. Both batters played explosive cricket. The 50-run stand also competed between the two batters. South Africa now moves into the final 10 overs and their will surely shift the gears with Klaasen and de Kock on the ground and Miller and Jansen yet to come for the batting. Bangladesh will eye to stop them early and claim wickets.

4:05 pm: RSA 165/2 - Overs 21-30 Highlights
Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram kept punishing the bowlers. Both succeeded in adding runs in between overs without losing any further wickets. 66 runs added with no wickets loss in middle overs is what South Africa would be very happy with Klaasen and Miller yet to come for batting. Aiden Markram completed his 9th ODI fifty. Mahmudullah bowled a few expensive overs after bowling his first for just 1 run. South Africa dominated yet another phase of the game. Quinton de Kock is inching closer to his 3rd century of the tournament.

3:25 pm: RSA 99/2 - Overs 11-20 Highlights
Bangladesh bowlers bowled a few quit overs. Quinton de Kock breaks the shackles and smokes a six over Shakib's head. Hasan Mahmud continued his expensive affair and conceded 10 runs off his first over and 12 runs off the next over. Quinton de Kock continued his good form and completed another fifty in this World Cup. The partnership between Markram and de Kock also crossed 50 runs. Both batters have looked in touch and would try to take on the innings from here and score big. Bangladesh bowlers have looked mediocre in this phase. Shakib has used 7 bowlers so far. Mahmud's expensive overs led to Mahmudullah bowling 20th over, in which he gave just 1 run. Bangladesh have used 4 spinners so far.

2:45 pm: RSA 44/2 - Overs 1-10 Highlights
Foiling SA's hopes of an explosive start, Bangladesh have snuffed out two early wickets to make things interesting. Left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam castled Reeza Hendricks with a lovely inswinger in the seventh over, and young off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz trapped Rassie van der Dussen with a straight one to double the pressure. Stand-in captain Aiden Markram and de Kock are out in the middle right now, building a partnership for the Proteas.

2:05 pm: RSA Innings Begins (RSA 6/0 In 1 Over)
Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks are out in the middle to open the batting for the Proteas. The experienced Mustafizur Rahman has the new ball in hand. He starts well with a hint of movement but bowls one short and wide, and de Kock pounces on it to send it crashing behind square on the off side. South Africa are away.

12:01 pm: Preview
Sustaining its allure of unpredictability, The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 threw up another incredible result on Monday as the spirited Afghanistan put up a dominant performance to shut out Pakistan in Chennai. The win was Afghanistan's second win so far and has opened up the tournament further. On Tuesday, an upbeat South Africa will take on the bruised Bangladesh at the Wankhede Stadium. After suffering a Dutch upset, the Proteas turned things around spectacularly with a 229-run thrashing of defending champions England. On the other hand, Bangladesh are in a do-or-die situation as they need to win all five of their remaining games to make the semi-finals.

While South Africa are in a comfortable position in the points table with six points from four games, The Tigers have lost three out of four matches and hold just two points. Both teams were missing their captains in their previous matches. While middle-order batter Temba Bavuma did not play the clash against England due to illness, an injury to his left quadricep forced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to sit out the all-important encounter against hosts India.

Opening batter Aiden Markram and top-order batter Najmul Hossain Shanto led South Africa and Bangladesh, respectively in those games. It remains to be seen whether either of the two captains will return to the playing XI for the match on Tuesday.
