Bangladesh registered a 33-run win to take 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on Sunday. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 257/6 with skipper Tamim Iqbal (52), Mushfiqur Rahim (84) and Mahmudullah (54) hitting fifties. Their defense started on a strong note with Mehidy Hasan claiming four wickets. But a defiant knock from Wanindu Hasaranga stalled Bangladesh's progress for a while. Hasaranga finally got out for a 60-ball 74, to leave the visitors at 211/8 in the 44th over. Sri Lanka captain Kusal Perera scored 30 off 50. Mustafizur Rahman got three wickets as the hosts dismissed the visitors for 224 in 48.1 overs. The second match is scheduled for Tuesday (May 25) at the same venue.
