Chasing a target of 395 runs, South Africa got off to a poor start, losing Dean Elgar and Theunis de Bruyn to spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin respectively. Then, Shami rocked the Proteas with three dismissals, those of Temba Bavuma, Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock, each of them getting knocked out.
