India At Tokyo 2020 Paralympics: Mariyappan Thangavelu Settles For Silver, Sharad Kumar Wins Bronze In High Jump - Highlights

Catch the highlights and updates of India's campaign at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo. India won one silver and two bronze medals on Tuesday.

After a blockbuster Monday, India had to trim down its expectation but still managed to win a silver and two bronze medals at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics on Tuesday. India were vying for as many as seven medals today but poor luck wherein archer Rakesh Kumar lost by 2 points and Mariyappan Thangavelu was pipped to the post by USA's Sam Grewe, India finished with three only. But the haul was enough for India to touch double digits as India now has two gold, five silver and three bronze medals  Catch the highlights and results here:

5:11 PM IST: Mariyappan Thangavelu has been pipped to the post by USA's Sam Grewe. USA's jumper clears 1.88m in last attempt. Mariyappan missed the final attempt and settled for silver

5:10 PM IST: Mariyappan Thangavelu and USA's Sam Grewe have failed to clear 1.88m. Last attempt for both the athletes. Mariyappan misses the final attempt, over to Grewe for final attempt.

5:02 PM IST: Mariyappan Thangavelu fights for gold against USA's Sam Grewe. Sharad wins bronze

5:00 PM IST: Mariyappan Thangavelu has cleared 1.86m and looks like gold is coming India's way.  USA's Sam Grewe also clears 1.86m. All eyes on Sharad's final attempt

4:54 PM IST: Mariyappan Thangavelu has failed in his attempt to leap 1.83m but India has two medals assured. These last leaps will decide the colour of the medals. Sharad  Kumar also fails to leap 1.86m.

4:48 PM IST: Sharad Kumar and Mariyappan Thangavelu have now completed their 1.83m jumps and are placed first and second respectively. 

4:40 PM IST: Sharad Kumar and Mariyappan Thangavelu have completed their 1.80m jumps and are placed first and third, respectively.  Indian jumpers are split by Lukasz Mamczarz of Poland  second position. India's third jumper Varun Singh Bhati has failed to clear 1.80m and his best remains 1.77m

4:18 PM IST: Season-best leaps from Mariyappan Thangavelu and Varun Singh Bhati to cross 1.73m and 1.69m respectively. Sharad Kumar in joint-lead with 1.73m leap after the end of first attempts.

3:58 PM IST: Men's high jump, T42 final starts. Mariyappan Thangavelu is third in the start list, while Sharad Kumar and Varun Singh Bhati are fifth and sixth in the 8-man final.

11:42 AM IST: Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 qualification round: Singhraj Adhana qualified for the final in 6th position but bounced back to finish third behind two Chinese shooters. Manish Narwal, India's medal hope from this event, finished 7th. China's Chao Yang with 237.9 points, and China'sXing Huang with 237.5 points finished 1-2. Singhraj Adhana with 216.8 came third.

10:35 AM IST: Women's Shot Put F34 Final: Bhagyashri Jadhav finished 7th.  Zou Lijuan won the medal with a world record throw of 9.19m.  Lucyna Kornobys of Poland was second with a throw of 8.60m.  Saida Amoudi of Morocco came third with a throw of 8.21m

10:15 AM IST: Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 qualification round: Manish Narwal and Singhraj Adhana will be back in action in medal round at around 11:00AM IST

9:40 AM IST: Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 qualification round: Manish Narwal has topped the qualification with a score of 575, while Singhraj Adana has qualified at 6th place. Third Indian in fray Deepender Singh finishes 11th with a score of 522

8:56 AM IST: Shooting 10m Air Pistol SH1 Final: Rubina Francis finished seventh and us out of medal reckoning. After a good start two shots of 6.6 and 7.9 cost the shooter dear.

8:38 AM IST: Shooting 10m Air Pistol SH1 Final: Rubina Francis is placed sixth after two series with a score of 92.6;

7:43 AM IST: Men's Individual Compound Open 1/8 elimination: Rakesh Kumar defeated Marian Marecak 140-137 in a thrilling match. Marian led the first two rounds before Kumar made a comeback. He will next face Ai Xinliang of China in quarterfinals

7:36 AM IST: Women's Shot Put F34 Final: Bhagyashri Jadhav is placed third in the best throw of 7m.  Marie Braemer-Skowronek of Germany leads the field with a throw of 7.73m

7:21 AM IST:  Athletics: Women's 100m T13 Heats: Simran Sharma finishes fifth in heat 2 with a season best timing of 12.69 but fails to make it to final.
