SL Vs BAN, 2nd Test, Day 3: Sri Lanka 17/2 In 2nd Innings After Securing 242-run Lead Over Bangladesh- Highlights

Sri Lanka is eyeing its first Test win in more than a year after claiming a first innings lead of 249 runs and reaching 17 for three at stumps to secure an overall lead of 259 runs in the second Test against Bangladesh on Saturday.  Praveen Jayawickrama became the fifth Sri Lankan to claim a five-wicket haul on debut as he finished with six for 92. 6:06 PM IST: Sri Lanka lost two wickets and were 17/2  at stumps on Day 3. Angelo Mathews was batting on 1 and Dimuth Karunaratne was on 13.  Mehidy Hasan (1/7) was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh.  Sri Lanka lead Bangladesh by 259 runs

4:35 PM IST: Bangladesh were all out for 251 conceding a lead of 242 runs. Praveen Jayawickrama with 6/92 was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts Sri Lanka.

12:07 PM IST: Bangladesh started their reply with Tamim Iqbal and Saif Hassan adding 98 runs in just over 25 overs, but lost two quick wickets to hand Sri Lanka the advantage. Hassan departed after making 25 too Praveen Jayawickrama, while Najmul Hossain Shanto got out for a duck, to Ramesh Mendis. Iqbal's knock will be crucial. He's unbeaten on 70.

10:00 PM IST: That's quick! Second day's play started early to make up for the lost overs and soon, Sri Lanka declared their first innings in the hope to force an issue. A very good total of 493/7. Niroshan Dickwella was left stranded on 77 off 72. Taskin Ahmed got the wicket of Ramesh Mendis (33) to make it four.
