Virat Kohli looked a million dollars as he did extensive simulation for South Africa's left-arm pacer Nandre Burger but Shreyas Iyer's problems seemed to continue while facing a barrage of short balls at nets on Monday. On the New Year's Day, it was business as usual for Kohli, who had an extended session lasting close to an hour.

3:30pm: NFL Owner Throws Drink On Fan

A video circulating on social media after the Carolina Panthers' 26-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in NFL appeared to show team owner David Tepper throwing his drink in the direction of Jags' fans. NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy later said: "We are aware of the video and have no further comment at this time." 1pm: Major Tsunami Warning In Japan

Even as the Japanese national men's football team took on Thailand in Tokyo ahead of their AFC Asian Cup campaign, the country suffered a 7.6 magnitude earthquake, followed by a major tsunami warning. The worrying incident would have revived painful memories of 2011, when almost every major sporting event in the country was either cancelled or postponed after the deadly earthquake, which triggered a once-in-a-millennium tsunami. The chains of events following the March 11 natural disaster devastated northeastern Japan and killed thousands of people

In a sight that surprised many, Pakistan's junior chief selector Sohail Tanvir was seen taking the field in an ongoing US-based franchise T20 league last week. The former Pakistan bowler went to play for the Premium Paks in the American Premier League (APL) soon after announcing the Pakistan Under-19 squad for the following year's World Cup. His decision to play in the APL has come under severe criticism, raising questions about conflict of interest.

Manchester City winger Jack Grealish says he is "devastated" after the "traumatic experience" of thieves burgling his home while he was playing. Officers were called to reports of a burglary at Grealish's Cheshire house during City's 3-1 Premier League win at Everton. Jewellery and watches worth £1m were repoprtedly stolen.

9am: Real Kashmir Owner Sandeep Chattoo Passes Away

Sandeep Chattoo, a prominent businessman and the owner of Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC), died in Gurugram after suffering a severe heart attack, PTI reported. Primarily a hotelier, Chattoo is widely acknowledged for his pivotal role in reinvigorating football in the insurgency-affected Kashmir valley. The inception of RKFC, affectionately known as the 'Snow Leopards', dates back to 2016 and is credited to him.

Australia opener David Warner has confirmed that he will quit one-day internationals along with Tests (after the third Test of the ongoing Australia vs Pakistan series). The 37-year-old, who recently won a second 50-over World Cup, has, however, kept open the possibility of playing the 2025 Champions Trophy - form and fitness permitting.
