According to a report in Hopper HQ, cricketer Virat Kohli earned the most money from Instagram among Indians.
Team India's star batter Virat Kohli might have had rare cricketing action on the field this year but that hasn't seen him become India's top-earner on photo and video blogging platform, Instagram. The list, compiled by Instagram scheduling tool Hopper HQ, Kohli charged a whopping INR 14 crore for every sponsored post he posted on Instagram in the 2023 list. The very list also contains the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, followed by Lionel Messi.
Al-Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo charged a sum of USD 3.23 million (INR 26.75 crore) whereas MLS' new-recruit Lionel Messi, charged USD 2.56 million per Instagram post (INR 21.49 crore) as per Hopper HQ.
Virat Kohli remains the only Indian in the top-20 list that also contains the likes of Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez, to name a few.
As per the report, Kohli charged USD 1.38 million per post on Instagram and his earnings are INR 11.45 crore for a single post. He has 256 million followers on the platform at present.
Mike Bandar, Hopper HQ's co-founder, was a bit suprised to see how the global stars' earnings have risen over the eyars on Instagram.
"It's still shocking to me that the annual money made on the platform increases every year," Bandar said. "Yet, what fascinates me more is the consistent players at the top.
"It's apparent that the glitz and glamour of traditional celebrities still holds power over the new 'influencer' status. Ronaldo and Messi not only dominate the pitch, but also the digital sphere as it's clear they personify the power of personal branding and the influence it holds over us 'ordinary' people."
