The International Cricket Council has given the pitch at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica, which hosted the first Test between West India and India in July, an "average" rating.
The Test's match referee, Jeff Crowe, had first given the track a "below average" grade, which would have resulted in a demerit point.
While Cricket West Indies might have appealed Crowe's decision in that situation, it would also have had to explain to the ICC about the pitch's poor quality.
The field was notorious for its slowness and turns, and the hosts were bowled out for 150, with veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin scooping a fifer and leg-spinner Ravindra Jadeja scalping three.
The visitors batted effectively, amassing 421 for the loss of five wickets, led by openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma, who scored 171 and 103, respectively.
However, the Men in Blue wreaked havoc with the ball once more in the second innings, with Ashwin being even more efficient, bagging seven for 71, as they won the match by an innings and 141 runs in just three days.
In addition, the ground for the second Test at the Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, received an "average" rating, resulting in a rain-soaked draw.
