Bangladesh have now won ten successive ODIs against the West Indies. Their last defeat was on December 11, 2018.
Bangladesh produced yet another clinical performance to humble West Indies by nine wickets in the second ODI at Providence Stadium, Guyana on Wednesday. The win helped Tamim Iqbal & Co. take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. They won the first ODI by six wickets on Sunday at the same venue.
After losing the Test and T20I series, Bangladesh bounced back to claim the ODIs with a match to spare. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mehidy Hasan and Nasum Ahmed claimed four and three wickets to dismiss the Windies to 108 in 35 overs.
For the Windies, Keemo Paul top-scored with a 24-ball 25. No other batter managed to reach 20. In a devastating spell of spin bowling, Nasum Ahmed produced figures of 3/19 in 10 which also featured four maiden overs.
The Bangladeshis then took less than 21 overs to chase down the target for loss of one wicket. Skipper Tamim Iqbal remained unbeaten on 50 off 62, while Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das scored 20 off 36 and 32 not out off 27.
Bangladesh have now won ten successive ODIs against the Windies. Their last defeat was on December 11, 218. In the process, Bangladesh have also won a fourth successive ODI series against the Windies.
The third and final ODI will be played at the same venue on Saturday (July 16).
Bangladesh lost the two-match Test series 0-2, and the three-match T20Is 0-2 after no result due to rain in the first match.
West Indies have a couple of changes from the first game., bringing Alzarri Joseph and Keemo Paul in for Anderson Phillip and Jayden Seales. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed has made room for Mosaddek Hossain.
