For the unversed, '12th Fail' is based on Anurag Pathak's novel which is about the journey of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi. The movie also has Medha Shankar as the lead opposite Vikrant.

It has been Vikrant's best performance till date. He has led the film. In fact, '12th Fail' is his first project where he is playing the lead. Ahead of its release, Vikrant expressed his joy to Outlook India for being part of Vidhu Vinod's Chopra's directorial.

On playing the lead, he said, ''I always wanted to be a leading man. Since childhood when I dreamt of becoming an actor, I always wanted to play the lead and work with good people. I am blessed to be working with Vidhu Vinod Chopra sir. We have been watching his films since childhood and his films have inspired and entertained us so much that getting a chance to work with him and also play the leading man was an opportunity which I consider myself very lucky.''
